We live in Portsmouth and a group of six friends were staying on The Isle of Wight and suggested we all meet for lunch. Given that we were local (Relatively!) we were deputed to find a suitable restaurant. Following Internet searches we plumped for The Michelangelo. It is very near to the ferry/hovercraft/bus terminal and there are nearby car parks that they were able to use. Whilst we walked over it is a useful point for the less fit that arrival is all on the level and does not entail a climb up the hills of Ryde. Viewed from outside it looks are typical but on entering the ambience and feel of a real Italian restaurant takes over and we were not disappointed, A good range of genuine Italian food with daily specials made the choice decision very difficult. Looked after well by attentive staff on a busy Sunday and everybody enjoyed the meal and we will no doubt meet there again. Additionally on entering Michelangelo there is an area where you can have coffee and light snacks without having a full meal. Prices were not excessive and we were not rushed to leave. It is worth mentioning that the Restaurant is open long hours (See website) but is closed on Wednesdays.

Wonderful restaurant that handle my mom's garlic allergy wonderfully by cooking her a special meal. Also made a special sauce for my nephew who wanting the gnocchi but not with tomato sauce. Had the chicken marsala with potatoes and it was amazing, hubby and daughter has the seafood linguini which they said was amazing too. Finished with mint gelato - yum!

I have to say it was good, but it was also busy. We waited quite a while before any food came out, and drinks beware are pricey. The waitress who took our order was quite aggressive towards all customers. Would go again but still not as nice as our italian back home. The menu is also quite pricey for the IOW!

This really is an excellent Italian restaurant. It starts with the ambiance when you walk in which is warm, friendly and inviting. Then the difficult decision - what to choose from the extensive and interesting menu. I chose the chicken, wild mushroom and Marsala wine risotto which was wonderfully creamy and tasty. It was probably the best risotto I have eaten anywhere. Everyone else in our party loved the food. Highly recommended.

We had a meal on Friday night and enjoyed the food and drink. Friendly service and good choice on the menu.
