We live in Portsmouth and a group of six friends were staying on The Isle of Wight and suggested we all meet for lunch. Given that we were local (Relatively!) we were deputed to find a suitable restaurant. Following Internet searches we plumped for The Michelangelo. It is very near to the ferry/hovercraft/bus terminal and there are nearby car parks that they were able to use. Whilst we walked over it is a useful point for the less fit that arrival is all on the level and does not entail a climb up the hills of Ryde. Viewed from outside it looks are typical but on entering the ambience and feel of a real Italian restaurant takes over and we were not disappointed, A good range of genuine Italian food with daily specials made the choice decision very difficult. Looked after well by attentive staff on a busy Sunday and everybody enjoyed the meal and we will no doubt meet there again. Additionally on entering Michelangelo there is an area where you can have coffee and light snacks without having a full meal. Prices were not excessive and we were not rushed to leave. It is worth mentioning that the Restaurant is open long hours (See website) but is closed on Wednesdays.
