We've just spent a relaxing and ebjoyable 4 day break in an Emily cottage. On arrival there was a grocery pack and the cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The reception staff were always helpful and accomodating. Farringford is a great place to relax and to explore West Wight. There are numerous walks from the Farringford grounds and walks can be combined with tours on the punctual 'Neddles Breezer' open top bus. We thoroughly recommend Farringford for anyone looking for a peaceful haven to unwind and relax.

We stayed in one of the "Alfred" cottages situated around a small grass quad. Accommodation was fine, but a few more hooks and shelves would have made life easier in the bathroom and bedroom. We had a warm welcome at reception and a very practical pack of food and essentials in the property to get us started. Once you are in, this is a place for relaxed activity! The attached 9 hole Par 3 golf course was in good condition and there was never a moment when we could not stroll out and play. Further afield lovely paths amidst deep hedgerows lead off to a variety of walks: down to the shop and post office; further on to Freshwater Bay, or further afield up on to Tennyson Down with its breathtaking views, and all the way on to The Needles should you wish. The only disappointment was the Justin Brown restaurant on site: good food, if a little pricy, but cool disinterested service and no atmosphere. Tennyson's house stands a bit gloomy and empty in the middle of the estate, but there is work being carried out and once this is completed the whole site will benefit. So, a lovely place to relax and let the gyros run down, super walks and a little golf but forget the restaurant.

Thank you for posting a review of your holiday at Farringford. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated the many beautiful walks adjoining the grounds. Thank you also for your constructive comments concerning those few extras that would further improve the cottages. We appreciate this feedback greatly and are always looking for ways to improve our facilities and accommodation. All such comments are reviewed closely at the end of the summer season. We are pleased that you enjoyed the menu but I am sorry that the service and ambience in the restaurant fell short of expectation. This is certainly something that we will be addressing when we re-open the restaurant next summer.

Stayed for a week in an Alfred cottage. Well-equipped, smart and clean with welcoming food parcel plus logs for the fire etc. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Pool, golf and tennis facilities were faultless. Only disappointment was the meal in the Justin Brown restaurant - hot bread rolls still frozen in the middle and inedible 'triple cooked' chips, which had the hardness of being cooked on the Monday and Tuesday before being recooked for us on the Wednesday! Not a pleasant experience for what was an expensive meal.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your holiday at Farringford. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, appreciated the lovely team on reception, and liked the cottage and the facilities in the grounds, including our newly resurfaced tennis court. I am sorry that your experience of our restaurant was not so good, but I am thankful for the positive criticism. Your comments have been taken on board and we will be revising our menu and pricing for when we re-open next summer.

We stayed in an Emily cottage; the cottage was clean, sufficiently spacious for 3-4 persons, located in a beautiful domain close to Freshwater Bay and town. Upon arrival, there were eggs, bacon, milk and bread; a DVD-player was provided upon request. A loyalty card gives you 10% of at the excellent Justin Brown restaurant. Would highly recommend!
