We fully agree with the Aussie couple who were disappointed - we were there on a Monday and towards the end of lunch-time, when we would have still expected a good choice and something a bit above the ordinary for such a marvellous spot. Soup-of-the-day (hopefully not made from a dry mix) would be a great addition to a rather lacklustre 1950s-type menu of dryish soft rolls with a couple of token bits of salad and either a slice of ham or some grated cheese inside them. We were there for a walk up Tennyson Down and felt that the rolls were basically just good enough for seagull food - come on, Delicia, you can do better than that!

Brilliant Cream Teas and the owner is so welcoming and informative. Just not open long enough in the day, and we have arrived too late after a long walk.

We drove past Cafe Delicia, which is in the heart of freshwater bay and it looked lovely and very inviting so we pulled up and stopped there for lunch. Outside there is a lovely deck with views out to the sea. Inside was spick and span, very spacious and pleasantly decorated. The food however was a massive let down, the choice was a white or brown bread roll with either cheese, tuna mayo (which was starting to look dry) or one slice of ham and tomato. There were two choices of crisps and some nice looking cakes, including bread pudding, which we had and it was yum, lemon sponge and one or two others. There was also a whippy ice cream machine and a fridge of drinks. Oh yes, and a scone with a sachet of jam but no cream.. For the price the rolls were very un-inspiring and the lack of menu choice is a pity, some other simple things such as a hot homemade soup could be a welcome addition to the very bland menu which is all cold food pre-made. Despite it being a lovely spot the food and atmosphere was so uninspiring we didn't return. I think that Delicia has huge potential to indeed live up to its name and be 'Delicia' and to be a wonderful welcoming and tasty spot to stop and relax and return to time and time again. I think that this could be achieved with just a few tweaks to the dull menu.

Brilliant old world tea shop with fresh home made rolls and cakes. Almost on the beach. Really clean and run by a really nice local couple. Freshwater Bay would not be the same without it!
