The Caledon Guest House
Ranked #3 of 28 Cowes B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 15, 2009

After several years of staying at the Caledon for the Isle of Wight festival, I am reluctantly telling you that this B&B is the best! I wanted to keep it a secret but with the addition of extra rooms to add to the facilities, there is now room for others to stay without the possibility of me not being able to book a room!
The expansion into the house next door will include a larger dining room and there will be a downstairs lounge/ reception area.
Tastefully decorated, making good use of the high ceilings and existing fireplace and lighting, has a yachting feel to the house.
Please use during Cowes week as I don't sail but would be sad not to stay for the IOW festival! Bus stop to Newport and beyond just outside the door
Oh, and the cooked breakfast is brilliant!

The house is tall so stairs are an inevitability. Not easily wheelchair .accessible but may be scope to develop.

We had a lovely one night stay that eased us gently into the festival. Warm and friendly hosts made us feel like nothing would be too much trouble. Only down side was the noise from road and early risers.

I stayed here for business as an alternative to staying at one of the over priced hotels on the island (you know who you are!!). The owners were very helpful, and the room was as good as.....if not better than most hotels. The selection for breakfast was superb, and included in the price, as well as WiFi for free.....which at a hotel would have been another £15 on the bill at least. Very convenient to get around the island (chain ferry to East Cowes 2 mins away), and also great for getting into Cowes for the evening, less than 5 mins walk.

GREAT. What else to say? GREAT place, LOVELY people, and GREAT food (the breakfast was soooo good :) )!!!!
Quiet area without traffic, 5 minute away from the sea and centre, with lots of restaurants and nice shops.
For the cyclists like me:
-it's right on the bike path around the island, you have just to go out of the door and follow the signs
- safe storage for your bike in the garden

Strongly recommended!

Carlsberg don’t do B&Bs, but if they did, The Caledon would probably be the best in the world. Seriously though, a REALLY nice B&B, very warm and welcoming hosts, easy going and helpful - Mark and Andrea should do courses on how to set up and run B&Bs. Extremely clean, and well decorated – felt like a boutique hotel in fact. If/when I go back to Cowes, I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else.
