The Caledon is a first class, well run guest house. The friendly owners could not do enough for us and appeared very happy in their work. Their choice of décor for The Caledon is spot on and provided us with a warm welcoming base on a rainy weekend in Cowes. Our en-suite room had good views over the Solent, it was very clean, with a comfortable bed in a very tasteful bedroom, loads of hot water in a lovely en-suite with lovely fluffy towels. We had superb cooked breakfasts on the three mornings we were there and they were happy to mix & match from the menu so we were spoilt for choice. Marks full English was a joy, the mushrooms were something special and I had it twice during the three days. We couldn't ask for a better location, only a 3 minute walk down into the bright lights of Cowes, so no need for taxis. This is a great place to stay and we thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting the beautiful Isle of White. We will return...if we can get in!!

Only stayed one night at the Caledon guest house with my husband, and we have only wonderful things to say!
Beautiful views from our very clean, bright and airy room.
Breakfast was cooked to order as requested and was delicious.
Very helpful, happy hosts....nothing was too much trouble and were happy to recommend places of interest or to eat.
Thankyou for making our anniversary one to remember

Room Tip: If you want ensuite remember to ask when booking as not all rooms have this

I am an american and grew up going to B&B's in Cape May New Jersey. The food was amazing, specifically the English breakfast with IOW produce, wonderful sausages, real bacon, amazing mushrooms and smoked salmon with poached eggs. The rooms were clean and the upper floors have a wonderful view of the sail boats on the Bay. The best part was feeling as if we were staying with friends. It was a very hard time for us as we were there to say good bye to a loved one. If you are there for a vacation, business trip or to visit family, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: There was no swimming pool

Have just returned from a two night stay at this guesthouse. We were very happy with it. Room was large and comfortably held our family of three and had the benefit of an ensuite. Not all rooms are ensuite though so need to be aware when booking if this is required. It was clean and decorated in a modern style. Beds very comfortable, daughter was particularly pleased as her bed was a proper single bed rather than bed settee type so was more comfortable than the usual hotel 3rd bed. Plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room (another hit with daughter!) and they were replenished for second day. Breakfast was lovely with fresh juices , cereal, toast and cooked options. The cooked breakfasts were lovely and included good quality local produce. Hotel is ideally positioned as a base in Cowes as it is only a short walking distance from the end of the main High st as well as the ferry. Also well positioned for exploring the rest of the island as it was very easy to find and is close to main road links. Has a small car park/driveway which is useful although do need to be prepared to either leave keys with owners or move your car for others parked in front of you, was not too match hassle though. Owners are friendly although not at all intrusive, good communication prior to arrival ensured we knew where we were going and who to contact should we have any problems.

Simply a great place to stay, super room very clean and tastefully decorated. A good location for a night in Cowes a ten minute walk. The owner Mark is most accommodating and efficient and was particularly helpful when our ferry was cancelled. Breakfast was very good and efficiently served. We would return here.

I have an instinctive and visceral horror of independent hotels and B&Bs. You are immediately thrust into the owners' own eccentric view of how guests should behave in their house, and how they should behave towards you. Too often this involves them having an extremely high opinion of their own chintz-laden version of Norman Bates' mother's bedroom, and expecting you to remain pathetically grateful for the opportunity to spend a lot of money on their chance to condescend and scowl. Marvellously, if the owners of the Caledon have an eccentricity, it's that they're utterly charming, friendly and hospitable. The rooms and the communal areas are simply and attractively decorated in a modern style. Despite us only staying for one night, and not having any particular demands, we nonetheless really felt looked after. Breakfast was splendid. Would easily recommend.
