My husband and I started staying in a private chalet 13 years ago when the place was thriving. It had everything you could wish for and if the weather was good there would be no need to go off site at all. They had an excellent outdoor pool with a children's paddling pool, always difficult to get a sunbed as it was so crowded, The Chart Rooms restaurant, which served excellent food along with the Bistro, which used to be decked out with flags on the ceiling, serving breakfast, coffees and snacks throughout the day. The site also had a bar (always busy) entertainment every night (always a struggle to get a seat) along with children's entertainment earlier in the evening.
There was a small shop to get supplies, fresh bread was baked every morning and there was a children's cinema and games room. At one point there was also a hairdressers on site. All the gardens were beautifully kept and the patio area had a water fountain as a feature and lovely hanging baskets full of flowers.

The last time we stayed was 3 years ago when most of the above had gone and it was just a base to stay.

However, last week we visited it for our grandchildren to use the swimming pool. Oh what a sorry place it has turned into. The outside pool has been cordoned off as hazardous and we were told unlikely to ever be used again. The patio area had weeds growing everywhere along with the cobwebs covering what's left of the patio furniture. We were lucky to get a coffee before the bistro shut for the day (4.00 pm in the afternoon!) The only thing the site has now is an indoor swimming pool, fully equipped gym (that no one was using), children's crèche, Monkey Mansion soft play and the shop.

We would advise anyone thinking of booking there to think very carefully about it first. If its just a base you want and not somewhere to eat and get entertainment then it would probably just be passable. It does look very shabby and run down as you enter the site and we can't speak about the condition of the chalets, but as the outside appearance is so poor we doubt that the insides would be any better!

Its an absolute shame how this once thriving lively holiday site has been allowed to fall into such a deplorable state, it is no more than a ghost town now. Be aware!

Tough to review this one as the accommodation was very nice, great kitchen and living room, nice comfy beds and superb on site pool, gym, shop etc. BUT......no phone signal, no wi-fi...had to go up to the main facilities complex to get emails etc. Also, some undesirable types live on this site, homeless being housed, drug rehabs, DSS etc. This though did not impune on the chalet quality or the overall facilities and conveniences, and we will be going back very soon.

Room Tip: Try to get higher up the hill and close to the facilities complex as you may get phone signal there.

Went with a member to use the indoor pool facilities. Polite and helpful receptionist. The changing rooms with toilets were all clean and welcoming - very posh. The pool was lovely and warm and quiet which was a real bonus. Definately be going back.

Good to use as a base to explore the Island! The pool and gym were great the ladies changing rooms were immaculate with under floor heating and even a TV!
Used the small bar and had a snack in the restaurant.
Some areas of the park could do with updating but suited our requirements perfectly

We came here on a Sun Holidays promotion so obviously didn't pay very much and since this was our first 'cheapo' trip and being a little apprehensive not knowing what to expect as this was not a well-known company to us, we were pleasantly surprised.

Our log cabin was spacious with 2 bedrooms and a large living space, ideal for all 4 of us to comfortably eat and lounge. The decor was a bit outdated but the facilities were clean. We were fortunate to have quiet pleasant neighbours and our cabin was on the side of a shallow slope with nice views of the forest from the outside seating area.

The staff were friendly on arrival too.
