Friday night meal at the Duke of York was exactly what you would expect from pub grub. Good hearty and warming food at reasonable rices. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We usually go for Sunday lunch so an evening meal was a different menu which proved to be varied and interesting. We needed to make some changes and they were very accommodating.

All in all it was a nice meal and we'll definitely be back.

I had d burger and it wasn't good. Others had the fishermans pie and sardines which were much better.

Should really have got it when we arrived and the bar person presented as confused and disinterested. However we decided to go for it - big mistake! The 'top quality gourmet burger' was most certainly not! Still tasting it now 4 hours later! The pork belly would have done a fine job resoling a pair of shoes! Couldn't wait to leave and should have done so 5 minutes after we arrived. They say pub food is on the way up but not at the Duke of York!

This is by far the best pub food in Cowes from full breakfast to evening meal from kippers to Lamb cutlets the menu is extensive in fact I would go as far as to say you would be hard pressed not to find whatever you wanted on it. There is a strong family atmosphere with a real friendly and helpful staff. The accommodation is clean tidy and functional with all on suit and flat screen TVs. prices are exceptional reasonable.

Could not have been made more welcome here by the hospitable landlord and his team.
There were 20 of us from Isle of Wight Round Table 1277 which can sometimes be a problem but these guys took it in their stride and served up very generous helpings of freshly made lasagne, steak pie (full of pieced of juicy steak not just lots of gravy like some places) and delicious chicken curry. As much rice and nicely cooked chips as you can eat. Tasty profiteroles and home made apply pie with cream for desert.
Can't think of anything that could have been done to make this better - 10/10 well done Duke of York.
