We had a lovely stay in Cowes at this fabulous luxury cottage. We are a family of 5, two adults and 3 children (one a teen) and had ample space with the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one bath, one shower). It beautifully and newly decorated throughout with gorgeous attention to detail, and everything you could need in the small but well-though-out galley kitchen.
The location is brilliant - close to the Red Jet passenger ferry, it's a short walk to the high street and sea front, with a host of shops, pubs and restaurants. We took our car so we could explore the rest of the island which meant we arrived in East Cowes. This involves a short crossing on the chain link ferry, which adds to the experience! There is limited parking on the road, so we usually had to park a short walk away in the next street, though could drop off luggage, shopping, and tired children right outside the house, so it wasn't a problem at all.
While here we visited Osboure House - fabulous grounds and a lovely inside, too - The Needles (we did a boat trip to get closer) and the Garlic Farm, as well as a very nice beach on the south coast. The Isle of Wight is lovely, with lots to see and do, and this cottage is an ideal base - we'll be back!
This is without doubt one of the best places that I have stayed in on the Island. It is modern, stylish and comfortable, walking distance from basically everywhere, with an open plan downstairs leading out to a garden. And a real bargain too. I would not hesitate to recommend this to sailors as a crew house, or non-sailors just looking to get away for a break. And you should definitely grab this opportunity before it becomes too popular....
