It is a bit of a blast from the past. Felt like somewhere my parents would have taken me in the 70s/80s.

The staff need a kick up the back side. They hang around chatting. There is enough of them to do orders at the table.

It’s basic. Food is ok if you don’t expect much. It was fine for a snack and a tea in the warm after a dog walk.

Wouldn't waste your time or money in this shambles of a so called cafe! The manager is damn right rude. Have seen staff being shouted and humiliated in front of everyone, even customers. Also been occasions where she's been rude to customers and obviously doesn't know what good customer service is! The whole place is run very poorly! Everything is well over priced! The food is terrible and you end up waiting much longer than you should just for a hot beverage! The cafe is very small and not much room between tables. A total joke of a cafe!

Although the tea room is tight for space, making it very difficult to move around it can't be faulted for its food, which is cooked to order using many local ingredients. You can choose a small or large size plate but the portion size is generous and the food is absolutely delicious.

Was not going to visit the tea rooms after reading reviews on here.
However I am so glad I choose to ignore them and give the place a go.

Huge menu, huge portions of food and lovely cakes. My dog also enjoyed his free sausages.

The young staff worked hard and were very attentive.

Will definitely be back .

Thanks

Called this morning at 10.30a.m .
On a beautiful sunny, frosty morning.
For a warm drink and a sandwich before a family walk , along the canal savouring the blue skies, and frozen grass, and puddles on the towpaths.
Thought it would be nice to start with a bacon sandwich, tea and maybe cakes for four children. A treat on a beautiful Sunday.
Ordered tea and cake each for the kids ( 4 - 10 years )
Dropped back at table .Ordered drinks and four Bacon sandwiches!
Was told " they were out of baps "
" ok, do you have bread ?"
"We don't do sandwiches?"
"Do you do toast ?"
"Yes"
"Can I have raw toast, with bacon in the middle?"
The youth goes in the kitchen to ask manager .
" No, we don't do sandwiches?"
I ask to see , the manager, . A lady called 'Ollie?'
I ask for four sandwiches, bacon.
She states about sorting her prices, and working out menu.
Baps are cheaper than bread ? ( This is bought sliced white bread ,£ 1.50 twenty five slices ( roughly?)
So I said " How do I get four Bacon sandwiches?"
"You'll have to pay for four large baps plus £1 each !"
"Fine."
These were £7.20 each ! £28.80 !
By then I'd gone past the point of caring .
So two cakes
Three teams
One hot chocolate
Four Bacon sandwiches
£45.00
Never touch this idyllic, tea house, unless you have bulging pockets, and wish to be ripped off by a moron manager, who appears unaware of customer satisfaction, and how to adapt to easy to solve situations.
I feel sorry for the staff, who appear to have to share the brain cell ,with their superior.
Totally let down on what should have been a simple breakfast treat !
One star is for the location, maybe a half for the downtrodden staff.
