We liked it a lot. Food was good, everyone was friendly and service excellent even though the place was crowded at lunch. Would love to return some day.

Brilliant to find a real Village Pub with good Food and good Beer.
Superb Garden and Bars with exposed Beams give it loads of Character.
Try it, you won`t be disapointed.

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime, there were a couple of others eating and a few "regulars" sitting around the bar. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. We wanted a reasonably price meal for all the family and had a very good experience. Although normally a beer fan I resisited the very good choice of real ales on tap and had a coffee which was good, the rest of the family had soft drinks served with a straw! We ordered 2 items from the light bites menu and 3 childrens meals plus extra chips, so with a main course each and a drink the bill was about £35.
The service was excellent, a blonde lady working the bar was helpful friendly and fun, a really attractive person who must be a great asset to the pub. A second lady bringing the food to table was equally as pleasant.
The meals came in good time and the adult items were great and the chips were the best! one of the kids had ham egg and chips which was lovely, the other two had spag bol which looked very much like a tin of heinz! The staff did say this was not up to the normal standard and offered to charge for just one rather than two without us even making a comment.
All the plates were vurtually licked clean so the food must have been pretty good!
I would certainly recommend a visit for light bites and drinks to the half moon at Wilstone, they were keen to do everything they could for the kids and made it a pleasure to visit, so visit them soon, enjoy it!

We went to the Half Moon for Sunday lunch. The pub is recently under new ownership, we knew the owners from their previous place in St Albans. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent - very generous sized portions. Huge beer garden. Would definitely return.

Visited on a Thursday lunchtime from the Aylesbury Arm having cycled down it as it is closed to boats at present whilst lock 13 is rebuilt. Once the Aylesbury Arm is reopened this will return to being an excellent stop from the canal between lock 8 and 9. In the mean time visit it from the Grand Union main line at Marsworth. Excellent walking and cycling in this area. We ate, one of us from the daily special and the other Ham Egg and Chips. Both were excellent. Beer from Butcome brewery was excellent. A real locals village pub. There is also an excellent village shop down the road run by volunteers with an extensive stock of all you may need (check the website wilstonevillageshop.org.uk) D&S 4/7
