Allegedly the chef at the Grand Junction Arms trained up Heston Blumental and it shows in the overall presentation and inventiveness of the food here.
We had one hi-cup with a starter which was supposed to be a goats cheese mouse but was more 3 small balls of goats cheese, which to be fair if you are going to serve the cheese at least serve up a decent portion.
Mains were excellent, nice variety through from Turbot on new potatoes, to Haddock and chips, Roasted pork belly and black pudding mash through to a delicious home made beef burger on a brioche bun.
Deserts were also tasty of note was the chocolate torte (pure indulgence) with popcorn panacotta served with a salty caramel sauce, yum! A nice touch was the complimentary slice of cheese cake for the Birthday girl, nice touch.
We'll go back when the weather improves and have Sunday Burgers by the canal! Note the phone line is a bit patchy at the pub, just turn up and you'll get a table!
