When you stay 2 nights at a very reasonably priced hotel you can expect anything. We were very pleased with the room, bed and overall service at south mimms. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We will stay again. Good honest reasonable hotel.

We have stayed here twice to attend family functions in a nearby village.. It's clean and comfortable and it's cheap by some standards. The breakfast isn't on site, it's at the services adjacent, which is the cheapest option because those shops are extortionate (2 breakfasts cost £22) I think it's £7.50 of you pre book with days inn.
The cons are.. It's a wee bit tired, the hot water went off (think it might've been a demand) and my mums room was stinking of smoke. They did offer to move her but no rooms available on the same floor
Pros - reasonable priced, only £7:45 for a taxi from/to Potters Bar, which is the train link to London (20mins to kings cross) nice obliging staff, plenty of extra fluffy towels on request

Although the rooms are relatively clean I was put into a smokers room which the room was saturated with the smell of stale smoke. I was told I couldn't be moved due to being fully booked but the hotel seemed quite empty. The rooms should be aired so others should not have thier clothes / luggage inundated with the smell of the room

For a short stopover, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this place whatsoever. There's a welcoming smile at Reception during check-in which was prompt, easy, no hassle – the CCTV vehicle plate recognition system made it a doddle to register for free parking.

Accessed by lift, my second floor family room (although I was travelling alone) had sufficient space to manoeuvre around in and came with, as standard, (comfortable) double bed (plus the spare single one) fitted with clean sheets/duvet/pillows (extra ones available in the room), Corby trouser press, tea/coffee-making facilities, LED tv, central heating, en suite shower/bath/toilet. Noise was not an issue any time during my two-night stay.

The only downside that I can envisage for other travellers is the fact there were no drawers in the room, just a few shelves integrated into the open-plan wardrobe. Not a problem for the single traveller but as this was a family room I can imagine mum having a few difficulties storing the kids’ clothes.

Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on quality or service. However, if the food is of the same standard as everything else, there should be no complaints. Alternatively, pop across to the Services area – there’s an assortment of eateries available, albeit at (in my opinion) rip-off prices.

Nonetheless, an enjoyable stay and a very good base to reach London from.

Very quiet considering location, staff helpful on arrival but wouldnt say too pleasant. Quick check in.
Room was large and very clean. Bed was very comfortable and had a good nights sleep. TV was very large.
No vanity mirror or towel rail.

Surprisingly pleasant hotel and quiet considering the location. Staff all brilliant, helpful and friendly which is the main reason I'll stay again. Rooms very clean and furnishings ok. TV seemed a bit small but loads of channels. Small problem with the shower was reported in the morning and fixed by the time I got back.
