My stay at The Steppes was absolutely fantastic. Never have I had such an excellent nights sleep followed by a fantastic breakfast before! The owners were so helpful and polite, and even helped me find a great pub nearby to have a meal! 10/10!

We stayed overnight to make our trip to Hereford a weekend break. The hosts Lin and Martin do a fantastic job of making you feel welcome and providing lovely warm, clean accommodation. The Breakfast was lovely and the gardens and surrounding area very peaceful. The added little touches of the fresh milk and cake just makes it that bit special. We ate at the Crown and Anchor in the village which Lin had suggested and that was a superb meal. Full marks all round and what a beautiful surrounding area to explore with all the black & white cottages and pretty towns. Well worth a weekend break here for all the right reasons.

We went just for a short break to get away and found Lin and Martin to be welcoming and helpful hosts. The red room was clean and comfortable with supportive bed and chairs to sit and read or look out on to the garden. The shower was good with thick towels. Thought given to tea and coffee making facilities with welcoming home made cake, and a tray for boots. Breakfast lovely with tasty specials and quality products. Lin's honey was also lovely.

This B and B has to be the BEST in the UK! From the initial welcome to the goodbyes after breakfast we were made so welcome by Lin and Martin.
The Blue room where we stayed was spotlessly clean and welcoming with beautiful bedding and throws.
Fresh milk in the fridge and 2 slices of Lemon cake under a glass dome were just what we needed after a long drive to Lugwardine.
Lin provided a list of choices for breakfast the following day. From Continental to fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, Lins own honey, home baked bread, and of course a cooked breakfast, it was truly a FEAST.
The Steppes maybe slightly difficult to find( our sat nav took us to a completely different road!!) due to no signage, but it was so worth it when we arrived.

We dined at The Crown and Anchor about 5 minutes by car and had a lovely meal on Sunday evening.

What's not to like? The setting is true peace and tranquility set far enough away from the main road for it not to be heard and yet near enough for a quick trip into Hereford. The room was spacious, very clean with a lovely outlook of the garden. All facilities were to hand and you felt as if nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was freshly cooked and served in the lovely, comfortable conservatory. Lin and Martin were perfect hosts who made all their guests welcome and gave everyone the best service. We will definitely stay here again when we're next in the area.

Well.... what a beautiful little gem of a place! A little difficult to find due to the lack of signage but follow the track down past Hemhill house off Lumber Lane and then turn right into the property. We were met by Lin and Martin and their dog Sam together with a few chickens and a beautiful little black cat. The welcome could not have been friendlier and we were immediately made to feel both as valued guests and friends, rather than customers. 'The Green room' which we opted for was fresh, bright, immaculately clean and reasonably spacious. The welcome tray held a very well stocked selection and there was fresh milk in the fridge which was really appreciated after a relatively long drive. A domed glass cake stand awaited with home-made carrot cake which we hurriedly tucked into.

That evening we followed both and Lin Martins recommendation and went the ten minutes walk away to the ever so delightful Crown and Anchor Pub. This is a very friendly and clean pub-come restaurant which serves home cooked food at reasonable prices. The food was excellent, so much so we went there again for the second night too.

A very good and quite nights sleep was had and we awoke feeling refreshed and ready for the exploration day ahead that we had planned.

Breakfast selection was made the night before to assist with the preparation and to avoid waste (this suits us down to the ground) I chose the Full English Breakfast and my partner David opted for a Baked Egg Special which consisted of a layer of mushrooms, bacon and tomato topped with a fluffy baked free range egg. The eggs couldn't be fresher as their mothers were clucking around the grounds! This was served with fresh homemade wholemeal bread topped with Lin's pride and joy home farmed honey (available also for sale as are the eggs) All served in an bright and airy extension to the main house and impeccably clean too.

The setting is beautiful and there's loads to do in the surrounding area however you will have to have a car to appreciate it to its fullest. We had a great day, for us the sun was shining and the scenery breathtaking.

That night, having been so impressed with the pub on the first night we went back for a second time and we were not left feeling disappointed.

Again, a good nights sleep followed by another (yes, I couldn't resist it) Full English breakfast whilst David chose homemade Cheesy Farls served with bacon, baked tomatoes and poached free range egg. We also helped ourselves to the hearty breakfast bar selection, all washed down with fresh ground coffee and orange juice.

Lin and Martin so deserve your business. They put their heart and soul into everything they do and their business is an absolute credit to them. Their attention to detail is second to none. We wish them every success for the future and we have absolutely no hesitation is recommending them and The Steppes whatsoever.

A real find.... you'll love it!
