Visited on a midweek night in October.
We arrived early and despite not being open, let us in to the warm bar!!
The menu is very classical, and we (2) chose 3 starters - Steak Tartare, Scallops and a foie gras to share, The Tartare was very good, served on a small slice of fried home-made bread. The Pick was the foie gras - cooked perfectly and a decent sized piece too!

The main course Partridge consisted of 3 breast and two confit legs, served with a pot of steamed winter veg. The bird was beautifully cooked.

The winelist is one of the best value we have seen, and we enjoyed a bottle os Stags Leap for less than retail.

The front of house staff were very good and attentive.

We will definitely return.

Four of us went out to celebrate two of our birthdays on 23rd October. We are local and we often drive the 17 miles to eat at the best restaurant for many miles around. We were an awkward quartet- 2 vegetarians and two carnivores. As ever the food was excellent, the house wines well chosen, the service friendly and the ambience welcoming. And I do not regard £160.00 for a three course meal for four with wines in a Michelin starred restaurant as expensive. The Stagg maintains its standards and its standards are very high. We will return.

I just had to go to a gastro-pub with a Michelin! And when we drove by earlier, I spotted the pruned boxwood hedges. Thursday night the place was packed. We thought the prices were fine despite what others say about the prices. . I mean it is a gastro-pub, people. It was mostly extended families and very lively. I also had to have Hereford Cow in its native habitat. It was very special. Good selection of ciders on tap. Chips are served in a metal cup which made them soggy. The menu is full of tarted-up pub fare and homey comfort food. Which is not a bad thing. The reviews are a little all over the map. Maybe service can be variable but everybody likes the food. The staff is very busy and I’m thinking that can make a server grouchy. I had to be a little assertive to get attention as well. Some customers may confuse being assertive with being aggressive, too. And when you’re annoying, you get it back. Waiters are people too. EZ find and ez park.

We went to the Stagg for a special birthday celebration; 5 people and two dogs. The location is fantastic for anybody that enjoys rural England (or Wales - it is very close to the border). The inn is in the village of Titley and looks up at gentle hillsides. if you enjoy walking in the countryside this place is for you!
We received a very warm welcome when we arrived and were shown to a very pleasant room in the main house.
The food is where I guess the reputation has been won and it didn't disappoint. The menu plays to the location and has a gamey / local beef bias. However there are plenty of other things to choose from if that doesn't suit. We took delight in sharing a bite of each others starters and mains so we got to try a good selection. Everything was delicious.
Highly recommend!

We just love the Stagg (but if it's off season ring and check it's open they do take random holidays) We ate there again yesterday in the bar the whitebait with curried mayo was stunning the scallops delicious and the mini toffee apple with a pot of tapioca , and plum compote crumble simply beautiful.

Not cheap but because excellent wines and drinks are at pub not hotel prices works out pretty reasonably in the end
