What a little gem! The pool and gym would stand up to any big named chain hotel all nice and modern with fantastic facilities! The hotel area including the rooms was old as it is a very old buliding with lots of character but all areas a newly painted and carpeted and the bathrooms are modernised, very quirky and quaint. The service was second to none, well done to all of the staff for understanding the meaning of hispitality and customer service. Last but not least is the food, amazing, probably the best food I have eaten in a hotel in a very long time and in my opinion very cheap for what you got both in quality and quantity! Keep up the good work, there are many large chain hotels that could learn a lot from The Burton.

Its the greeting when you arrive at the hotel that sets the tone, throughout our stay I was struck by the genuine friendliness of the staff, it made us feel right at home. The bar is good value as is the food, breakfast is good too. The Gym and the pool is fantastic, a real bonus, our room although the not the most modern of rooms was enormous with beautiful views, I really liked this hotel and its perfectly placed for touring the area. if |I'm ever in that part of the country again I will most definitely stay here.

We had our wedding reception here, the staff were amazing and were very obliging. John, the manager was extremely helpful with all our arrangements and he and his staff made our day very enjoyable. We stayed at the hotel for our 1st night and the room and breakfast were very nice. The night of our wedding was the evening of Kington festival wheelbarrow race, and John entered us in to it, fun was had by all. We would highly recommend the hotel, the delicious food and all its facilities. Thanks again John, Gary & Sadie Cooke

Room Tip: honeymoon suite has four poster bed its huge and lovely

i stayed in room 6 a really nice cosy room
i stayed with my partner and we really did enjoy our stay, the room we had a nice size t.v with a nice bathroom even with 2 sinks witch was to out benefit we also had great service in the morning not sure what the lads name was !

we had a lovely welcome and a great meal in the bar and the restaurant, not really sure what we preferred. again we had the guy from breakfast behind the bar the night after and still giving great service.
they have exxellent gym and pool facility's i also would like to point out the wi-fi is excellent really fast and coverd the whole hotel even the garden (obesely this varies with how busy it is! for people who complain about bad reception)
out arrival and departure were very friendly being welcomed buy the owner and shown around the pool and gym

GREAT HOTEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We recently stayed at the hotel. Everything about our stay was fantastic. The staff were very welcoming, the food in the restaurant was superb and the leisure facilities were great. A lovely part of the country to stay in. We visited the Hay book festival whilst at the hotel but would definitely think about staying at the hotel if we come this way again.

Just returned from two nights staying at this lovely hotel. The Kington festival was on so we enjoyed the Wheelbarrow Race on Saturday night followed by two live bands. The hotel was very busy because of the festival and there was a wedding reception in the hotel, but we still felt special and we were served our bar food (very good) and drinks promptly. From the welcoming reception at the hotel and spa to our farewell everyone was professional and thoughtful. Would recommend to all ages. A great base for travelling throughout this region. The only tiny complaint was the water could have been hotter for my husbands shave - but there was the kettle!

We stayed for 2 nights on a KGB deal and loved every minute. From our initial friendly and efficient welcome by Jaqui in reception, Anita in the restaurant, the staff in the spa, bar and at breakfast impressed us by their warm and helpful attitude. Staff who obviously enjoy their work make a stay in a hotel so much better.
We had a large and very comfortable room (room 5) with plenty of storage space and a large bathroom. We took advantage of an offer when booking, for dinner at a reasonable price and ate our fill (and truth be told, overate). I can strongly recommend the lamb curry and Angela's salmon was excellent.
A plus factor at the Burton hotel is the spa. It has a sauna, steam room and a large swimming pool as well as a substantial gym. Equally important is the bar which serves excellent real ales and delicious bar meals - try the lasagne - its fabulous.
Kington is far enough away from busy roads to ensure a peaceful night's sleep and is a pleasant and quirky town. We highly recommend the Burton Hotel and its lovely staff.
