“A little over prices”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

This is tucked out of the way so you wouldn't stumble upon it by accident!

Two pieces of cake and two soups came to £15 which in my opinion was a little steep.

Very cute china and ecletic decor

Looked like a another pair of hands were needed in the kitchen

“Great wierd little tearoom and curiosity shop”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

This out of the way tea room serves delicious cakes and tea in a secluded barn. In winter there was a roaring fire to warm up the room, making it very cosy. There is a little shop full of bits and bobs from Thailand and India that is fun to nose around. It is a lovely spot to stop for a break after a walk around Ashridge.

“as quirky as traditional”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

This is the sort of place one would keep as a secret, for fear of changing it. Hidden amongst the trees in the woods along and to the side of Bullbeggars lane near Potten End(it's not that easy to find) you will find some old barn buildings which have evolved into a secret hideaway; a nursery of indiginous plants and to the side of this, Sanuk, the shop and tearooms.

I beleive the history of Sanuk is that it was created by two girls who ran it for thirty years who then sold the business to Allison some eight years ago who runs it today and has honoured the place.

It's all home made fare; cakes (fruit, sponge, sticky ginger) marngues, teas, coffee and all fairtrade. I did not check to see everything on the menu, but you'd know it was going to be good. Set in an ancient barn, with exsposed beams, ceiling and timber walls... there's Ivy growing through the eves and together with the china plates, cups and saucers, it has a charm and eccentric Englishness all of its own.

There's a wonderful calm, quiet and peace here and if the weather is fine, you can sit outside in the nursery with birds, beas and all the smells of the plants about you. It's not trying to be anything, the whole place just is: it has an integrity all of its own, built out of love.

To the other side of Sanuk lies another barn, where Sean and his wife sell and repair chandeliers and fireplaces. I mention as this all adds to the Sanuk experience, quaint, charming and quirky.

“lovely afternoon teas/coffees and cakes”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

what a surprise to find this place tucked away near my home in Berkhamsted. Cyclists seem to gather here as do walkers, to break the journey for tea and cakes, all homemade and delicious. The location is great as surrounded by countryside but only a short distance from Berkhamsted station.
