Good clean hotel, bar and menu a bit limited, but food is good. Stream running under the bar with the waterfall is an interesting feature. Free WIFI is useful although it is a bit slow, and signal in the room was weak.

Stayed at the watermill recently must say it wasn't that impressive from the outside, but once we went in we were greeted with good friendly staff and a warm welcome. We stayed with a group of friends and has dinner in the restaurant each night, every night the food was fantastic, must say the chef done a good job with each day menu selection. At all times staff were great and friendly, the room we had was nice and large with a large tv screen.

Only spent one night here arriving mid-evening. Good welcome and quick/efficient check-in.
Even though they stop serving food at 0930 they didn't flinch at taking my order bang on 930pm (some would)...also asked for room service..not a problem !
The four staff I encountered were helpful and happy and engaged in what they were doing.
Room was comfortable and had all stuff I needed. Nice to have stream outside window.
Some aspects were tired but not worn out although towels are getting thin so should be replaced.
Bed, room and bathroom was clean. Bath/shower gel a bit flowery for a bloke but hey, that's nit-picking :-)
Proper tea, biscuits and water in the room as well which some places scrimp on at this level, and a decent chair to watch TV in rather than bolt-upright dining chair or bed.
If I have need I will stay here again and get there early enough to take advantage of what looked like a friendly bar/food area.

Business trip so I decided to stay in Hemel,,,Rooms warm décor ok but service a little on the lost in translation style. I may be picky but I am the customer and when kids are involved in serving food and alcohol then it never sits easy with me. I believe that if you have the correct glass for the job then use it nothing worse than paying good money for a premium lager and get it in a bitter glass. The water went off one morning and as I reported it to the guy at reception he just said yes we know about it no well try this area or its working here,,,im rambling now so to sum up rooms ok and warm service nil,,breakfast limited and the pub over the road is a haven for those who want something decent to eat.

The rooms have the feel of a motel with the outside entrance to the rooms. Clean enough inside with shower only. Awoken by the sound of geese on the picturesque river which flows directly below the window. Decent staff, plenty of parking.

Spent a working week here. Not a bad night's kip but mostly pretty basic. Very noisy, most probably because of the emergency road works for three nights due to snow but even without that you could hear alot during the night. Luckily the bar was relatively cheap and with 2 pubs over the road, sleep came easily enough. The walls are pretty thin, the windows in the room i stayed in seemed to be cheap single glazed and being that it was snowing, the room got pretty cold -- high heating sorted that out for the most part.

Staff where ace -- seemingly foregin exchange students and they were cool. Always willing to help and good banter when behinf the bar.

Food was standard -- nothing special.

All in all, good value and fun times if a little basic.

Dear Kahlimist,
Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at our Hotel. I am glad to hear that the members of staff you saw were helpful and entertaining during your visit.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience and disturbance you experienced. The emergency road works were an urgent issue in which the council had to address, and of course the noise and disruption was something the hotel did not want however this was something which was unavoidable and beyond the hotel’s control.

We are glad you choose to stay with us during your week’s stay. Your business is very important to us and we value your feedback. We hope you will come back and see us again soon.

Thank You,
Manish Patel

friend had a wedding reception here, and a few friends decided to book a room as it went on till quite late, the hotel itself was ok very pretty gardens and water feature, rooms were clean but not hotel standard, was more like a motel setting from the front from reception had to walk ot up some sheltered concrete stairs outside to get to room. ok for a one night stay but would not book for anylonger then that.

Room Tip: ok for a one night stay if passing through. try and get rooms that are inside rather then the motel...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us.

The hotel is built from an old flour Mill, the building you did stay in is a motel style building, something of which has been here since the time the site was converted from a Historical flour mill to hotel.

I am sorry to hear that you felt your hotel room was not cleaned to a Hotel standard, its feedback from guest like yourself which lets us know what we can do to improve our standards. Although we always try our up most to provide the very best service and standards, on this occasion I have past your feedback to our housekeeping departments, who have taken your comments on board.
Once again, thank you for your comments. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Watermill Hotel in the near future.
