“A comfortable stay”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Just spent one night here. A very efficient check in considering we were in a large group. The place was fully booked but it was very peaceful. The rooms were very clean and for the money weren't at all bad. We spent some time in the bar in the evening which was spacious and not too crowded.
Breakfast was very well organised and the food was excellent it was all of a good quality.
Checkout went very smoothly too. All in all a pleasant stay.

we have just returned from a two night stay at he hotel, which has comfortable spacious rooms and good beds. Facilities in room ie coffee and tea , fluffy towels and generous size toiletries. ( our towels were changed every day) the housekeeping staff were very friendly. we had a meal in the restaurant which provided a wide choice , the young waiting staff were very attentive to all our needs. the ambiance of the hotel was very welcoming wth a good reception and bar area with comfortable sofas and high backed chairs. Thought the room price was good value for money , we did not book the breakfast as we thought that was a bit pricey at £ 12.00. Our room was around the back so we had no noise from the A1m that runs in front of the hotel, it was a bit of a warren though to get to your room However I would recommend and use this hotel again .

Thank you for your reveiw

II was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay. It is a shame you missed out on our breakfast as it is excellent and although costing £13.95 there are discounts availble to those who book in advance (as little as £8 when booking your room).

Stayed for one night mid week due to a business commitment. Well located just off the A1 and good price of £65 for the night ( no breakfast ). Food via room service was good standard.
Only downside was some road noise from the A1 for any light sleepers.

We have just returned from our all inclusive weekend.

With the deal we had a early check in and late checkout and after a phone call before our arrival we had been upagraded to a superior room free of charge..

The service we received was first class, everthing from reception to the bar service.

We would recommend the all inclusive deal. great value for money indeed.

The only issue we had was with the room.
Although dated and had a cabinet for a fridge im guessing had nothing in.

We could hear everything in the room above every single footstep and every drawer they opened every couple couple of minutes from 7:15 am both mornings. They must have lots on their mind because it sounded like they were pacing up and down up and down up and down.

We did complain and credit to the reception they did offer to move us to a smaller double room.

All in all we had a fantasic weekend. We even had a pack up lunch made for our journey home.

Room Tip: Ask for a room up stairs

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night in September 2012. The initial welcome from reception was very organised and helpful. The room itself was clean and well appointed, could not find fault. The restaurant was fantastic for both dinner and breakfast, a very good choice of food, cooked to perfection and served by wonderful friendly staff. Thank you, and I would stay again!

I absolutely cannot recommend this hotel enough, and wish to say just how impressed we (2 couples) were with the value of the all inclusive break we had booked (stayed weekend of 18 to 21 Oct). In fact we kept asking when the catch would come!!!

The hotel is quite modern but clean, bright and welcoming. And, the staff are truly in another league altogether, especially Alison (the assistant manager) who just couldn't do enough to help and was just so friendly – she really is one of those people who go out of their way to help and you know it is genuine, thank you Alison.

Would also mention Danny in the restaurant who has apparently learned all his service skills since joining the hotel a few months ago (straight from Uni) and is better than many of the ‘experienced’ waiters in some very expensive restaurants we have been to.

The desk staff right through to the restaurant staff at breakfast were so helpful and pleasant too. We had an executive room which was huge with lovely touches like a Nespresso coffee machine (in addition to the usual kettle and tea), dressing gown and slippers.

The quality of the meals each evening was exceptional too, and between the four of us who stayed we had a mixture of most of the dishes on the menu over two nights, including a couple of those that carried a very small supplement like fillet steak, and the entire meal was just lovely. Quality cooking and good ingredients, not to mention an amazing selection, so thanks to the kitchen team for that.

The hotel is well placed to explore the area such as Hatfield House (in season), St Albans (a lovely little town with some great olde worlde pubs!) and some excellent shopping with the Galleria up the road, St Albans (market day on Saturdays) and the huge M&S store at Colney Heath.

I know this report almost sounds like we have an interest in the hotel but truly don’t, but will be going back again very soon. Thanks to everyone at the hotel again for a great weekend.

Room Tip: Go for the executive rooms at the back (worth the extra and quieter away from the road)

We have just returned from a weekend, all-inclusive stay. The hotel is nicely presented and has good sized clean rooms. The highlight for us was the exceptional service we received from the wonderful staff, together with the excellant food served in the restaurant.
