Description: An all day eatery with a Mediterranean influence serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (in that order).Because we are an all day eatery it means you can come with your kids (for bubble and squeak and a milkshake), you can come with your friends (for a carefully selected ‘Teapigs’ tea and slice of the drizzliest lemon drizzle cake ever), you can come with your other half (for our ‘21 day aged’ rib eye steaks and bottle of Rioja) or you can just come on your own, to enjoy a cup of our excellent coffee and linger over the papers. (Slippers not included).

We have eaten at Okka a few times, the food is generally good but the service on each occasion has been really poor.
Went back for a third visit last week at lunchtime and waited for 50 minutes to get our lunch. There was just one lady working in the kitchen who was obviously rushed off her feet and the man who was serving did not even apologise for the long wait!
When the food arrived it was good , though not as good as previous visits and my friends peas were overcooked and shrivelled up! Our seafood platter was ok, though the tuna was overcooked and the pitta bread a little burnt .
The best part of the meal was the Oreo milkshake!
Won't be rushing back there in a hurry!

Great location, decent ambiance but below average food and an indifferent service. I've been twice and both times they failed to deliver what I asked for. The food tastes like the raw ingredients are bulk bought at Costco, actually that's doing Costco a disservice as some of their stuff is good. Full English consisted of incredibly salty bacon, half a plate of beans, soggy mushrooms and an overcooked egg (despite asking for it soft and explaining that last time it was also hard despite also then asking for it soft). On the bright side, the sausage was decent! Portion was small, and none of the treats like black pudding or hash browns that you would get in a Little Chef.

Guys COME ON! There is a regular farmers market right on your doorstep! Drive a mile out of Harpenden and there are farms advertising fresh and cheap eggs and all sorts of nice things you could cook.

I don't know what this place was like when it first opened, perhaps the initial enthusiasm has waned.... but no matter how tempting the place is against practically no competition on the English-Breakfast-in-Harpenden-front..... I'd get the friends together you were going to go with, stop by waitrose and cook a much nicer breakfast for yourself at home on that professional gas range u never use.

Nick

Great breakfast and because of this it is always busy on weekend mornings. But because of this the staff couldn't cope with everything. Drinks took 15 minutes to come.

Next to the piled high plastic storage boxes of its neighbouring shops, Okka's a hidden gem. Easy to miss in amongst Harpenden's High Street, its a cracking little place, with breakfasts to die for, and an eclectic menu of British, American, French and Turkish classics. The kids love it. My hyper intolerant mother in law reckons its the bees knees. And I'm pretty stoked about it too - esp the bouillabaisse.
