“Can't praise this hostelry enough!”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

We were on a cycle ride from Hay-on-Wye, very hot Sunday (last) & desperate for a coffee stop (there were no villages/coffee shops on the route we'd taken). The six of us stopped here at 12.30ish to find they were only serving Sunday lunches - we didn't fancy anything quite so heavy being on bikes but the manageress took our drinks order, spotted our disappointment & came back in a couple of minutes with the news that they could do a couple of items off the daily lunch menu.
All the food was excellent, service was exemplary.
We sat outside under an umbrella (no shortage of sun that day) eventually going on our way well satisfied.

“Little gem - a lucky find”
Reviewed March 21, 2014

Having driven through Fownhope in Herefordshire several times, we decided to stop for lunch one day this week having sought out a recommendation in our Good Pub Guide.
What a little gem - great food as well as great prices on food, and the beer was well kept. Lovely Butty Bach!
A local farmer was delivering a tray of fresh eggs as we ordered our food, and they would do well to advertise if they use local produce. Very clean and modern finish to the pub. We will go back.
