“Great all round experience”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We took our friends to the two brewers in kings Langley tonight.
One had read reviews and said I don't expect to much according from the reports online.
I replied we had a good meal two weeks ago for my mums 70th birthday party so I thought we would return.
We all had a good meal and great service.
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and I will return for the new winter menu.
Also we downloaded a discount voucher for 20% off which was used without a problem

We stayed here in May this year. Due to a family emergency we had to make a middle of the night dash home - we rang the next day - sorted out our bill and also realised we had left some items of clothing in our room. Both were new and good quality items and the hotel assured us they had them and would post them back to us.

It has taken several months for this to resolved - the head office have been involved as our clothes then ..'disappeared' , were found again and then vanished again!! The manager was very rude to our friends who live nearby when they tried to help and sort this out for us. Unfortunately they picked on the wrong people as my friend is a credit and fraud specialist and did not let this drop.

The end result after several visits, phone calls and emails is that we got our money back, (as the clothes were stolen/misplaced), a large voucher for overnight stay for four and a written apology.

I am giving this feedback as a warning - as for those of you that have already stayed here this pub/hotel is small. There is a small team of people working here.. what does that say about the way this hotel is run when items of clothing go 'missing', people give out conflicting information and are unprofessional, rude and dismissive. Particlurly the so called 'Manager' of this establishment - as if he is the role model for the team it is no surpise this was so badly managed.

This could have managed this so much better than it was, if they had been big enough to hold thier hands up, admit the clothes had been stolen and reassure us they were taking steps to make sure this would not happen again, apologise to us, give us the money to replace the items. Instead it was a farce with lots of lies and bad behaviour from start to finish.

BEWARE!!

Room Tip: BEWARE.. If you want to stay at a place where you know your belongings are safe and if you need help...

First impressions,..... It's a lovely little hotel, very reasonable rates, superb location, and the food we had was spot on. It's an old country pub style hotel, which I like. The rooms are nice and clean and equipped with everything you'd expect, all just perfect apart from a couple of minor things.
We was given a corner room with 2 windows, is hate to think how dark the rooms with one windows are, the room lighting was terrible, very old style shades which seemed to absorb all the light. And the shower was definitely a no-power shower, it was near on pointless, and some of the tiles around the shower could go with a better clean, especially on the grouting. That's it though, everything else was lovely

A nice place to arrive to in the afternoon after a day on the road, only 2 miles from the main highway Norge og London, and only 50 minutes from Stansted. The Hotel is also a nice pub and have a decent restaurant and also nice rooms . The room in the backyard was very quiet and parking very near.

Let me start with the positive points. Nice hotel, nice location. However the food was not brilliant, sort of thing you would get in a Witherspoons! And the staff were particularly unhelpful and grumpy. To my amazement. The bar shut on a Saturday night at 23:00! And even as residents we were told you either go and finish your drinks in your rooms or you can sit outside in the court yard. We moved to the court yard and asked for the patio heater to be turned on. We were promptly told that it was broken and dismissed as we were shut out of the bar and reception area. As a group of friends away for the weekend this put a bit of a damper on the evening. I don't think we would stay again.
Also we had the same issue as others with breakfast. Coffee and orange juice ran out and were not refilled. However the fry-up was excellent.

It was with keen anticipation that we arrived for lunch - having had glowing reports from friends and further enhanced by the superb location by the village green.
Met by someone whose approach was less than welcoming. We decided to eat inside as it had started to rain. Drinks order taken by a slightly more cheerful waiter but apologised for lack of ice for our gt's.
Food was uninspiring and lacked taste and presentation. Not impressed!

The room was well equipped and clean however the toilet had deep staining in the bowl which detracted from the overall impression of the facility. The hotel is sited in an area where there is little signal strength for mobile phone use and the payphone in the lobby was unserviceable. Breakfast was a limited experience as at 0840 all muesli, and fruit had gone, only weetabix remained of the continental breakfast. All in all the hotel is good value for money considering its proximity to London. The nearby Premier Lodge is priced similarly.
