Description: Aymestreys The Riverside Inn and Restaurant is nestled in the Herefordshire countryside, where the Roman Watling Street crosses the meandering River Lugg. Amongst trees where butterflies flutter and dragonflies buzz, The Riverside Inn is an old black and white timbered building full of original features - oak beams, log fires, exposed stone - dating back more than three hundred years. Warm and full of character, this is a typically British inn with an excellent line in local ales, countryside perries and ciders as well as a number of European and New World wines selected as accompaniments to the fine dining food produced by the kitchens award winning chefs. Committed to supporting local producers and suppliers from the rich larder of the surrounding counties, The Riverside Restaurant is proud to be local - even hyper-local in some cases with herbs and vegetables often taken from the inns very own garden - and as such dishes are created to showcase the best seasonal ingredients. Every item is freshly cooked just meters from your table and every taste and requirement is catered for with excellent vegetarian options as well as good choices for coeliacs and non-dairy eaters.

“Excellent Food & Drink.”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

In the middle of winter the pub looks a little dour as its adjacent to the main road and the subsequent roads salt and grime. However, inside is excellent a traditional old pub with a focus on local produce, excellent at that.
Stopped by for a lunch time meal. Food was excellent, as were the local beers. Wholly recommended. Nice welcome by the girls and good attentive service.
Will return in the summer to sit by the river without a doubt.

“Mixed up”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Very warm welcome from the girls. Orders came to the table quick but steaks were given to the wrong people, one of which was a well done and other that was medium rare. Jug of water we asked for took a while and then coffee was forgotten about. Despite this the food was fantastic!

“A reliable favourite”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

We've eaten at the Riverside Inn a number of times, and have never been disappointed. Friendly service and tasty food are a given. This time there were three of us (awkward) vegetarians in the party and all of us went away happy, as did the one carnivore. The cauliflower souffle is to die for, but a word of advice to the greedy: one is enough!

“Lovely place to eat and feel welcome!”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

On our recent New Year getaway and as a party of 12 (8 adults and 4 children), we did wonder whether we would get into a nice pub / restaurant for food and especially being New Year's Eve, but we needn't have worried as as soon as we parked up by the fast flowing river and entered the building we were welcomed by a few members of staff who looked after us throughout the visit. We were served our food and drinks efficiently and always with a smile. Best of all, noone in the party was disappointed with their food as they were ample in portion and tasty! My Bacon and Brie baguette was particularly good!
Would highly recommend and definitely go again - next time to try the evening meals which sounded delicious.
