Beautiful thatched cottage, small but very well equipped, watch your heads on the beams upstairs! Hot tub was very popular with us all, (2 Adults, 2Children aged 15 & 11), although could do with some instructions as, for us, it was a little too hot and had to leave the top off for a while before getting in.
Location is ideal, my daughter loved to see the ponies, donkeys and cattle just across the road on the forest, and sometimes wandering past the cottage. Easy reach of all the major attractions and we had a day trip to the Isle of Wight.
Me and my partner spent a weekend away and it was perfect. Beautiful little cottage in a wonderful area. Will 100% be visiting again in the future!
The pictures don't do it justice. We booked the cottage for only one night as we were attending a wedding at a nearby hotel. I wish we had booked for the whole weekend. The cottage is in a gorgeous location and is a typical quaint English cottage with tonnes of character. It's was lovely and clean and cosy. I would definitely stay there again. It would be a great base for walks.
Had a brilliant 7 night family holiday at the cottage between 6th-13th Aug. The cottage itself was spotless, cozy, and full of character. All of us instantly loved it. Out daughter's aged 8 & 11 liked their rooms and the unique 2 stairway layout. Needless to say, the hot tub was a massive success and the girls were in it everyday. The local shop is very useful and will do cash-back for you if needed. A few hundred yards down the road is the village pub which we found to have a very friendly landlord. We enjoyed quite a few 'end of the day' drinks there and ate out twice. The food was all good....bit pricey but I think that's pretty typical for the area anyway. The rest of the holiday was basically a picnic and self catering holiday and the cottage had everything you needed to make everything as easy as it is at home. I'm very familiar with the new forest in general having had many many family holidays there whilst growing up and into my adult life so I knew the area around East Boldre was going to be scenic and typically stunning just like the rest of the New forest. 3 or 4 days were spent exploring the national park, walking, visting sites and old haunts, eating picnics and fishing for tiddlers. Crockford bridge just down the road from Thatch Cottage is great for this. Paulton's Park is another obvious great day out which we did and when it was hot we went to Barton On Sea. New Forest wildlife park and the amazing (although an hour away) Portsmouth Historical Dockyard. All in all....one of the best family holidays we have ever had and the cottage itself contributed so much to this. As a general rule, we don't tend to go back to the same area's year to year simply as there are so many different places to explore but the New Forest is the one place we return to as it feels like a second home. I would definately stay at Thatch Cottage again. Thanks Annabel & Russell!!!
