My husband and I stayed for a 2 night break and it surpased our expectations. The room was large and a delight with good quality fittings and beautfiul decor.

The hotel its self was georgeous with all the charm you could want. Lovely furniture, beautiful paintings and antiques abound.

The garden was a great surprise and we were lucky enought to be there is good weather so could sit our their after dinner with our coffee.

Last but not least the food and the staff were more than you could ask for, I will definately be coming again.

A weekend stay here proved to be highly-successful. The staff were responsive helpful and engaged with us immediately. On arrival our car vanished into the staff’s safe hands. Reception was speedy with no superfluous form-filling. Luggage handled efficiently. And morning tea or coffee (room-service) with the promise of a newspaper was a nice and very welcome touch.

The room was spotless. Furnished and decorated to a high degree. The room exuded quality and stationery and brochures were a pleasing bonus.

We were welcomed each morning with a pot of coffee and our chosen newspaper. Sufficient coffee to satisfy an army! But here the star was Mr Brian Chapman (Night Porter) who proved to be an excellent communicator. Old-world courtesy was Brian’s trademark as he arrived punctually with a discreet knock on the door. Night Porter seemed such a misnomer for this outstanding ambassador for the Montagu Arms. I would invite the Management at the registered office in Lymington to read and absorb this review. Mr Brian Chapman is worth his weight in gold! Can I feel a pay bonus coming???

In fact every member of the hotel team demonstrated high levels of customer care. And I have rarely witnessed such committed staff. Obviously a reflection of their own commitment to service-delivery. But also a reflection of Mr Philip Archer’s excellent management.

Thus summed up in one word: EXEMPLARY. And a model of excellence that other hotels should imitate.

This was a wonderful hotel. We had 2 junior suites at a last minute rate, and it was fantastic. Staff are excellent and could not fault our stay in any way.

We stayed at The Montagu Arms for our 1st Wedding Anniversary and had a wonderful time (there was even a card in our room from the hotel when we arrived). We had a warm welcome from Sally Moss and during our stay each member of staff was attentive and very pleasant. The rooms are beautiful - all individually decorted. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea sat in the conservatory, it was so peaceful looking out over the gardens.

In the evening we had a nice meal in Monty's and then retired to the bar.

The stay at The Montagu Arms was perfect and we would go back!

It is no exaggeration to say that this is one of the best hotels my wife and I have ever stayed in - and we have stayed in a few! This hotel is a real gem. The rooms are beautifully laid out and blissfully comfortable, the lounge downstairs is the kind of place you could spend the whole weekend (and we nearly did since it rained most of the time!), and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. All of this would make it a place to recommend but the real draw has to be the oak-panelled restaurant - really atmospheric and the food is superb. It won Hampshire restaurant of the year and we could see why. All in all, we had a brilliant time and we'll definitely be back.

We stayed just one night at this very nice hotel, the staff are very helpful and friendly. We had booked dinner in the terrace restaraunt @ £48 per head and we soon realised the cheff was very much out of his depth. The food to put it mildly was awefull,
he was trying to achieve michelin star qaulity without michelin star talent. Why they don't just stick to good honest cooking instead of trying to be a Ramsey or some french master I don't know. It appeared the menu was written by Shaun Hill pitty he didn't cook it.
A shame because the hotel is very nice indeed.

My husband and I spent two nights in the Montagu Arms in early June.
The hotel public areas are well appointed and the gardens delightful with garden furniture.

Our bedroom was attractively furnished, featuring a four poster bed and had fresh orchids on the dressing table.
When we arrived the young man at reception was very welcoming and carried luggage to our room.

We dined in the hotel restaurant both nights and can honestly say that the food was delicious. The fillet steak was particularly good! Bar food was also available although we did not try it.

We will definitely stay here again if we are visiting the area.
