This hotel is wonderful. When we arrived they couldn't immediately find our booking, but when they did, as an apology they upgraded us to a nicer room. A great start!

The food was fantastic. If you get the chance, do the tasting menu as we agreed it was one of the best meals we've ever had!

The staff were friendly, the rooms were comfortable and the location was ideal for exploring the local area. You can also use the spa at the sister hotel which was a great addition to an already relaxing stay.

We hope to come back soon!

A lovely old hotel set in the beautiful village of Beaulieu. The staff and service were excellent throughout our stay and nothing seemed too much trouble. Our room (a Junior suite) was very nicely furnished and extremely comfortable although the bathroom perhaps could have done with a little updating - but still acceptable.
We ate at the Michelin starred Terrace Restaurant and opted for the tasting menu with wine. The food was very good - but maybe did not have the wow factor that we were expecting. The wines were all very good.
All in all we had a great night and we would certainly stay there again.

Booked the spring dining break for my husbands birthday which included afternoon tea, dinner, room and breakfast. The hotel is located in a quintessentially English village in the New Forest, but apart from the glorious setting, the lovely room (four poster Chestnut Suite) and delicious dinner, the one thing that really sets this hotel apart is the staff. Every single person we met from reception, the porter, the bar person and restaurant staff could not have been more welcoming. They had a genuine interest in making our stay special but not in an over-the-top way, the restaurant manager came to every table to make sure dinner was enjoyable, there was a birthday card in our room from the hotel, and guests are even given a bag with water and apple on leaving for the journey home. The staff are a credit to this hotel and we look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Chestnut four poster room was spacious with a separate sitting area, overlooking the front of the ho...

Stayed here for one night as a birthday treat and booked the spring dining package which included B&B, cream tea on arrival and dinner in the evening. The hotel grounds and location are beautiful and we had a great experience. The dinner itself was absolutely fantastic, some of the best food we've ever eaten! Afterwards we spent some time in the bar and chatted to some of the very friendly staff. The room that came with the package was just a standard double which we realised, but it could have done with a little updating. It's very nice to be able to use the spa facilities in the sister hotel down the road, and overall we had an extremely enjoyable stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Montague Arms on 30th June and 1st July. The room was excellent, the location was excellent the service was excellent. As should be expected at the prices they charge.
The only one thing spoiled the stay was that part of the English breakfast I ordered on the morning of the 1st had clearly been kept warm for far too long. The fried egg had a crust on the yolk and the white was leathery as was the bacon. The fried bread was completely hard. The sausage and mushrooms were fine though, suggesting that the egg, bacon and fried bread had been cooked well before the rest - I suspect even before I ordered it. I could have complained, but I did not have the time to wait for a new breakfast which I am sure they would have provided.
On the morning of 2nd July, I ordered the same breakfast and asked for it to be freshly cooked and that time the breakfast was excellent.
The meal we had at Montie's was also excellent - apart for an apparent obsession the chef seemed to have of serving rocket dressed in Vinaigrette with everything.
Watch for the cattle, sheep and pigs (and, of course, horses) wandering past the hotel on the High Street in the evenings every 2-3 nights!!

Lots of charm. Amazing English cottage gardens. The staff is outstanding. We were there for 5 nights and were well taken care of. There is a Michelin rated restaurant in the dining room, as well as a brasserie on the property. This hotel has a very traditional English country house decor and feel. The village of Beaulieu is very cute too. Since this is in the country, you will need a car if you plan to stay here.

We've stayed at the Montagu Arms before and as we liked it so much decided it would be the perfect place for our 5th wedding anniversary, somewhere to relax and enjoy ourselves. We booked on one of the special offers available at the time, including overnight stay, cream team, drink before dinner plus a 3 course meal in the michelin star restaurant. Friends who live close by joined us for the cream tea, can thoroughly recommend the freshly made scones and home made jam, yummy. As the weather was so lovely we got to enjoy the beautiful garden at the back of the hotel, full of lovely flowers, not to mention all the local birds vying for food from the feeders provided by the hotel, lovely to watch while sipping a cool drink. We did have a minor issue on this visit to the hotel, our cream tea was a wee bit delayed as the staff got confused, however this did not spoil our time in any way, Pierre the restaurant manager handled everything exceptionally well and made sure that we were made very welcome and offered drinks during our meal to compensate. The Terrace Restaurant was superb, the food devine, we always get to try something new and thoroughly recommend to anyone, please don't be afraid of the michelin star, what this does mean is the staff are attentive, knowledgeable, everything is well presented yet still relaxed and inviting and very friendly too. So far we have stayed 4 times, each time in a different room and all have been lovely. The next visit is already planned late summer for a birthday treat so if you are looking for somewhere in a beautiful location to treat yourself, look no further.
