“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in the beaulieu hotel on Monday night and were pleased with our stay, the staff were lovely and the food was nice. Wouldn't say great but definately over average. The swimming pool is a bit smaller than it looks in pictures but it is still a nice size to just go a dip in. The rooms were okay maybe a bit of redecorating and new mattresses wouldn't go a miss but they were very clean and acceptable. The hotel is slightly dated but if you are passin by looking for somewhere to stay this is an ideal place. The location is superb!

We booked three nights for the price of two with dinner and had a good time, despite the weather. Our sat nav brought us straight to the hotel which was very useful as it was pitch black by the time we arrived. I guess we were lucky as not all sat navs seem to be so accurate! We stayed in a crown room which was situated at the back of the hotel and overlooks the garden. The room was large, very clean, well appointed and had a very comfortable four poster bed. Plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room and, unusually a teapot, which is a very pleasant change from making tea in a mug; there were biscuits provided too! As others have found, wi-fi wasn't possible in the room but there was a strong signal in the very nice bar so you can answer your emails/surf the web etc whilst having a drink, alcoholic or otherwise. There is a small lounge area with two big sofas either side of a realistic coal effect fire. Dinner was included in our package and that gives you a £25 allowance towards the items on the a la carte menu. You can, with care, enjoy a three course meal for this. They bake speciality breads and our favourite was the rosemary and onion, followed by the apricot, but get down to dinner early if you want these as they are very popular. The food was good and well deserving of the AA one rosette award. The staff were superb; attentive, helpful and very customer focused. The only slight downside is the trains that start at 6am but if you keep the windows closed this isn't an issue. The pool was described as a splash pool so don't expect anything olympic sized. This hotel has a lot to commend it and offers good value for money if you can get accommodation on a special offer. Well recommended.

2nd time here; very enjoyable, didnt use swimming pool which we used last time(too small) & gave the restaurant a miss because we tried last time but prefered the pub next door(Drift Inn)lovely log fire. The room we were given(10) was a crown room/ 4 poster bed & dressing gowns lovely; would recommend this hotel for a short romantic break; you are in the middle of the New Forest!

Room Tip: If you can afford it get a Crown Room; but even the basic rooms which we had last time are quaint &a...

Two nights one couple.Booked through discount vouchers and Red Letter Day,Bed and Breakfast. £75. Bargain!!
My wife and I have just returned from a few days at The Beaulieu Hotel. Having reread a number of reviews the day before departure on TA we were tempted not to go,Im glad we did go. We arrived on a cold February Sunday lunch time,we asked to see our room first, just in case!,no problem,an upgrade was possible, but for the money room 27 in the annex above the pub was just fine. We had a really nice beef roast in The Drifter Inn, their pub next door. Lots of walkers, cyclists and tourists passing through. Id say there was quite a number of regular visitors, always a good sign.
The main Hotel and our room were nice and warm clean and tidy.
The newly refurbished bar in the main building had opened the day before, and looked good.We took advantage of the lounge sofa's in front of the open (gas) fire in the evening and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine, a sandwich and the Sunday papers.Whilst watching Spencer rush around working the bar, reception and room service all very efficiently and with a smile.
Breakfast on Monday was a really clean looking plate, egg, 2 GOOD rashers of bacon,a nice sausage, half a grilled tom, toast. Plus the juice and cereal table.I have to say the pot of coffee was also very good.
You do have the option to have a larger breakfast for £2.50 extra or 50p for individual 'extras' which I think is fair enough.
As this was a 'budget break ' for us we decided not to eat in the Hotel restaurant but go to the pub next door for a curry as it was 'curry night special' two for £15.Thats another story!!
Tuesday, another good breakfast, efficiently served and enjoyed. The squeaky kitchen door could get a bit annoying!!
The pool looked clean and inviting,I didn't have time to use it though, yes it is small but it is only a 29 room hotel at reasonable prices.I would quite happily wollow in it for half an hour.
Wifi is NOT in every room as the book in the room says, no big deal for us,but then neither was my phone signal any good either.hey ho!
The bed was comfortable, instant hot water and the room was clean. At last a normal kettle and plenty of coffee, tea, hot chocolate in the room,so many skimp on this now a days.
We didn't see the rooms in the main house, but I would prefer the view from the front of the house rather than the one of the station that we had.We could clearly hear the trains but not overly so.
All the staff that we came across were all pleasant and helpful.Thank you all.
As I've said this was two cold, wet, windy nights in February,I would imagine this is a very very busy area in the summer, snow was forecast as we left.
WE WOULD STAY AGAIN.

Room Tip: Front main house has the better views

second visit, insisted on room 25 as we had it last time and wanted to relive the memory, however there was no hot water in the room, boiler broken and the wi fi does not work in that room, and the bar was being decorated so an old room was being used as a make do bar,,,,however the room is lovely even with no hot water and my dog does love it so there. The bed is the most comfortable bed ever and No wi fi no problem turn the dam thing off and enjoy the forest and the food was wonderful and made all the better by being served by Tom, he can not do enough for you, Thank you

This was our first trip away with our dog! We used Tesco clubcard vouchers and went for a 4 poster room. Without the vouchers it would have been too expensive. The room was a great size and clean. We found the hotel easily. Such a great location, you step out of the hotel and can walk in any direction. We ate both nights in the pub joined to the hotel and took our dog with us. Food was good, normal pub prices and large portions. Breakfast was really nice, so much choice, and the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was amazing.
Only bad points - The pool was tiny, only any good for kids to splash in and the sauna was broken. And due to a wedding in the hotel parking was a nightmare.

We were given a night at this hotel as a wedding present and had a really lovely break. The view from our room looked out across the New Forest and was breathtaking. The room was very large, the decor was quite old but I liked that. We had fun swimming in the Pool and ate (and drank!!!) in the great pub just next to the hotel. If you like walking in the New Forest I think this hotel would be a great base. I'm looking forward to going back.
