Description: The Royal Oak is a family run historic pub set in the New Forest. It offers an excellent range of real ales and ciders, as well as lovely homemade food and desserts. The pub is near to local attractions such as Beaulieu motor museum, Lepe beach and Exbury gardens. Great for family, the beer garden and childrens play area offers a great resting point for days out.

After a day out in the New Forest, we found ourselves at the Royal Oak and wanted a meal from the bar menu. We both chose the ham and cheese ploughmans. This was priced at 9.95 each. We sat in the garden area which was clean, well kept and very attractive. There was also a play area for the children. The caged Owl looked a little sad although it appeared well cared for.
We didn't wait too long for our meals but were very disappointed with them for the price. It was a basic ploughmans. The most exotic thing on the plate was a small gerkin. Don't get me wrong, we have absolutely no complaints about the meal and for maybe 6.50 it would have been well priced. But 9.95 was well over the top for what was a very basic ploughmans.

We booked this venue for a family meal via e-mail as we were visiting family from abroad. Staff were very proactive in their response and a suitable table reserved for us.
The food was of a very good standard, with all plates being cleared - so there can be no negative feedback about the quality of food provided!
A good range of both beer and cider was readily available, as we're soft drinks.
We enjoyed ourselves and will be back!

Nothing wrong with thids place but nothing special (apart from the staff who were freindly and helpful) Standard menu was dull but specials board contained some surprises..

We ate here on Saturday, it is a friendly pub offering a good variety on the menu and beers to savour. Also a selection of flavours of ice cream which my partner relished. It is very dog friendly so another time we would bring our dog down with us... good to know of these places.

This was our second visit to the Royal Oak and we were very glad we returned. This is the perfect pub for people like us - relaxed, friendly and very dog friendly with good, value for money food and a great selection of well-kept real ale. It's lovely to have such a warm welcome when travelling with your dog as this is not always the case when travelling about in the UK and they are part of the family after all!

The chef obviously makes an effort with his menus as there is a good choice on the standard menu and then a specials board that definitely takes into account what is in season. This time asparagus and strawberries both featured (not together!) and were not a disappointment. The mussels were really good too but, for my taste a little on the salty side.

We love the New Forest and frequently escape to this area in our motorhome so it is great to know that the Royal Oak is there providing a consistently great experience with all the individuality of a proper independent pub. Long may it continue.
