We were recommended this cottage by some friends. We booked a three night stay with our two dogs. After getting instructions prior to the journey, we found the place very easy to find. There is plenty of rooms for parking. We were greeted by Fay who spent a considerable time making sure were shown everything. We had to use her services straightaway to find the nearest vet as we had left one of the dogs medication at home.
The cottage is very spacious with a reasonable kitchen, dining area and a pleasant comfortable lounge. The bedroom is large with plenty of storage available. One thing that stands out is the high quality of all the equipment together with all the nice extra touches around the accommodation.
The sliding doors in the lounge area open out to a raised patio area that is enclosed and very useful if you have dogs. The gate from the patio leads down to the garden. Crossing the garden you arrive at another gate that allows you into a very large paddock. This is also enclosed and is a great place for the dogs to exercise. At the bottom end of the paddock is a gate into the forest.
We were unlucky with the weather as we had plenty of rain and wind during our stay. We did do a lot of walking in the forest because of this. We visited the seaside resorts on the nearby Dorset coast, Ringwood and we found a delightful country park - Avon Heath. During our walk in this country we had our only glimpse of the sun. This was an excellent place for dog walking.
We had a really good stay and I would recommend Picket Hill Cottage without any hesitation.
We loved this cottage. The accommodation is excellent and of a very high standard. It is very well equipped and set in beautiful surroundings. It is a perfect base for many walks from the door and in a good position for visiting nearby attractions. The friendly hosts made us very welcome, they were very helpful and informative. We will definitely return.
Situated 2 miles from Ringwood, on doorstep new forest. Ideal for us as we had two small dogs and the cottage had everything you could wish for an enjoyable stay. Decorated nicely and biggest plus was exceptionally clean. Our adult Daughter stayed on the large leather sofa bed in lounge which was very comfortable. Lovely touches ie milk, coffee, danish pastry on arrival. Lovely big bathroom and shower pressure was good. Will definitely stay again.
Fab all you need is included for a peaceful and pleasant stay at this lovely cottage. Just a 100 yards from a cattle grid into the new forest . Lovely and clean facilities bedroom beautiful and owners on hand if needed. Will be booking again
This cottage is a lovely home from home and VERY clean and smelt lovely , which for me is a must !!! and that makes for me a perfect family break (when you dont even realize people have been there before you) , its ideally located for the beach -sandbanks is lush, pubs , supermarkets and local attractions & it is very well equipped .. Faye and John are so nice , very welcoming .. The grounds are a pleasure to be in and the forest is right at the end of their garden which you can walk for hours and see deer running around .. cant fault it at all .... (other than a personal niggle , springy mattresses) We would love to make it back next year - we have recommended it to all our friends and family ...
John & Faye are lovely and welcoming , very helpful with directions and advice on where to visit .
the place is immaculate , cottage is very clean and tidy very much a home from home defiantly a 5/5 ! and the garden is amazing ! and a short walk to the forest.
Our only niggle here was the mattresses were uncomfortable due to the springs which made for a broken nights sleep ..we have recommended it to all our friends and family and hope to go back next year .
Located just off the A31 on the oustskirts of Ringwood, this cottage is an absolute gem. Beautifully presented and deceptively spacious, with direct forest access through a gate at the bottom of the owner's garden (which you are encouraged to enjoy) this is one of the best cottages we have stayed in.
