We were given a gift voucher for the Ringwood Brewery tour tour last Christmas, we found it among some letters last month where it had remained forgotten by us since then. We looked at it and found that the expiry date was about two weeks away.
we phoned Ringwood Brewery and booked a tour for the following Sunday.
On arrival we were checked in by really friendly chap named John who was to be our guide for the tour. John showed us into the next room where the rest of the tour party were sampling the first of Ringwood's offering, Ringwoods Best Bitter, very nice and served by Steve who was to do the introduction and history of the brewery, after a very interesting half hour we were joined by John and we began the tour.
This was the most modern of the breweries I have visited and the tour was great as John was a very interesting and well versed in the brewers art. we toured for about 45 mins including tasting various roasts of barley used in the various beers brewed here. after finishing the tour in the barrel filling area we returned to the Quality Control Department (bar) where we were treated to the four standard beers , all very good and hard to pick a favourite but "Old Thumper" won by a short head. The company of the other tourists (and Steve) was good and friendly and it was a shame when "time" was called.
I would highly recommend this tour as a must do item when in this part of Hampshire.
We did purchase packs of the beer as presents for Christmas and a couple of vouchers for friends.
