Yes it is a really secluded hotel in the New Forrest, handy for a nights stop over with arranged transport to cruise and airport.Plenty of early morning deer and horses wandering around the hotel grounds, also some sheep around.
Its an old hotel so do not expect total luxuary it's made up from various decades from the Victorian era onwards,Not a bad breakfast served up

Once again we visited our favourite place in the New Forest this time it was a family surprise our 29th anniversary and my wife Dawns birthday, although our offspring had arranged a weeks camping in the forest we could not miss the chance to visit Alan and Mavis to catch up with the happenings of the last year or so since our last stay at the hotel, and of course to partake in the excellent cream teas which they are well known for, and to stroll through the grounds and wonder in amazement at the varied collection of rhododendrons in all their glorious colours, we challenge anyone who visits to count and name all the different varieties. This time we also took our GSD and she was made most welcome as both Alan and Mavis love dogs.

We were a bit unsure when we arrived what to expect, the hotel is from a different era, but what a little gem. Our room was basic but comfortable, with a lovely view of the garden( with deer) and clean and warm.
We had booked for evening meal and how pleased we were that we had, the food was excellent and cooked to perfection- with a good variety of choice and plenty to eat, everything was fresh and local. The following morning the breakfast was also excellent.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The newly built gym and pool was a delight and was opened up especially for our use.Well worth a visit.

Thanks to Alan & Mavis for making our Christmas Lunch enjoyable.
14 of us from the Hampshire branch of the Mercedes-Benz Club, sat down to a festive lunch on the 16th Deceember.
The food was as expected, all courses were served promptly and were as required.
We will be returning again in the Summer.

We brought my parents and aunt (from the States) here last Sunday for afternoon tea. The setting was gorgeous and peaceful amongst the thongs of tourists in the New Forest. We all had cream tea which was delicious (just a little too much baking powder/bicarb in the scones but didn't spoil our enjoyment). The service was excellent, the young lady that served us was a real credit to the Hotel.

This is a lovely spot if a little run down. Very quiet and quaint. Owners are fabulous! A one of a kind place of peace and tranquility! Breakfast was excellent. The grounds are amazing. It is wel llocated for exploring New Forest, Fordingbridge, Ringwood and Blashford.
