“A must see part of England”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

I am fortunate to live on the door step of the New Forest. If you like walking, cycling, camping, horse riding, good pubs and restaurants, the Forest is the place to come.
Split in half by the A31 the northern half is hillier and not as water logged in the winter. The southern half more forested and in the winter more of a challenge for walking.

“More than a Forest, not very New”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

With as much Heathland as Forest, with areas that are flat and others that are rolling hills, the New Forest possibly offers the most variety of any of the National Parks. The ponies, donkeys and cattle wander the roads at random (making driving occasionally exciting, occasionally frustrating). Deer are by no means a rare sight for the observant anywhere, and even pigs wander around in areas to the Northern end of the Forest, around Normansland, Fritham and Eyeworth.

The wide variety of bird, insect and animal life in such a small and beautiful area of Britain is a must-see for anyone who enjoys the open air.

“New forest visit”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

An absolutely lovley time had by all, lyndhurst is a sweet forest town, quite villagey compared to nearby lymington which is a bustling sailing town, Great places to stay great value for money with families on a tight budget and very entertaining stay with friends.

“Couldn't ask for better.”
Reviewed June 3, 2013 via mobile

Stayed in New Milton in the middle between the forest & the sea (practically a few minutes away from both) had a lovely week still makes me laugh that cows, ponies & horses would just slowly walk across the road whenever they felt like it (so don't come here if you are in a hurry) it was nice to see fouls as well. We had one washed out day so were lucky. The forest (although not accessible in some places had plenty of area that was so didnt miss out in anything really. Stayed in a nice family home (Squirrel's Annexe) and had a fantastic time - will come back with more time again.

“Excellent”

The whole of the New Forest is lovely; however, th forest isn't new now as it is thousands of years old! Please be careful when you drive around as there are plenty of wild ponies around that wander into the road.
