Definitely not returning. The hallway to our room had black masking tape in various places presumably to hold the carpet together or to cover the worn areas - this didn't bode well. The room was a good size and the beds comfortable but the room didn't feel clean. There were splashes over the mirror, the dark blue patterned carpet didn't look fresh and clean. Unable to comment on it more as none of us walked on the carpet, we kept our shoes/slippers on at all times. Glad to leave.

After a nightmare experience in the Bournemouth Travelodge, and having had no replies to our two emails and complaint we lost our faith in Travelodges. But, we returned to the Travelodge at Stoney Cross Lyndhurst where we had stayed before, and our faith has been restored! Our room was warm and spotless, the staff were friendly and helpful, it was a joy to stay there! Î

From the roadside this Travelodge looks derelict, but the hotel rooms are actually accessed from the rear of the property, and are modern, comfortable, warm and with good facilities. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The main drawback is the lack of anywhere to eat. There is a garage next door to buy sandwiches and drinks, but there is no café on the site for breakfast. Hopefully this will be rectified once the refurbishment (which started this week), is completed. Suggest you ask for a room facing the rear or side of the hotel (like we had), as the rooms facing the very busy road are probably noisy. We found that, despite appearances, you could access the forest on foot from the Hotel - just walk past the front of the hotel, heading towards Cadnam and there is a bridle way path parallel to the road that leads to an underpass which gets you right onto heathland and within walking distance of the Rufus Stone.

This Travelodge has an ideal location being so close to Beaulieu and the New Forest. Beds in the room are comfy, shower is good, the windows are x2 double glazed so you really can't hear the road noise. But, we had problems in not being able to turn off the bathroom fan ventilator which disturbed our sleep (when we complained we did receive our money back). Towels and linen are clean, but the room was grubby and carpets not vacuumed. The hotel does not have a lift! We couldn't lock the door from the inside properly - used a simple Yale lock (no swipe access) so room did not feel secure. The adjoining Little Chef restaurant was being demolished so looked like a building site. Reception area is tiny! Staff were very helpful though. This hotel felt like it was trapped in the 1990s! It has so much potential - come on Travelodge, get smart to this, invest a little money on this hotel and you could charge more and save more on paying out compensations in the long run.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel but it was more for “be all day outside come to the hotel, sleep and go out again” type of holiday. Rooms were clean and bathroom useable. The only minus I can find was a cold room. A specious room with one tiny radiator. When you have a kid with you it is not ideal situation but we survived :)
