Love love love this pub! Amazing garden for nice weather, dog friendly and great local walks. Local ales and locally sourced products for AMAZING ploughmans and pies. Would recommend this pub to anyone and have taken loads of mates and family here. If the weathers nice though, expect it to be busy!!!! But service is still swift and with amazing views and a good ale....whose in a rush anyway!!!

This is a pub. Pure and simple. Well managed cask ales await your drinking pleasure, and your glass gets filled by hand directly from the barrel. What's more, the price is the best around! No fruit machines/ no pool table, no sky TV. Fantastic ! You have to talk to each other in here and it's a real ale / proper pub atmosphere. No food sold in the evenings and all the better for it. Friendly staff to boot. The best little secret in the New Forest.

Cycled to Fritham on a hot, sunny day to check out this little place on a friend's recommendation.
We weren't disappointed. The pub itself is tiny, with barrels racked up behind the bar. The garden is huge with plenty of tables and even an ice cream shack. With having 13 miles to ride back we just stuck to shandy, but will return to samples the ales. We had ham and chicken ploughmans and pork pie salad and it was all lush. The limited menu means they focus on really great ingredients and serve your meals super quick. Will be back.

We were taken to the pub for lunch for the first time by our friends Les and Kay, who was born in the village. Being told the history of the village including the gunpowder factory story made the visit really special for us.
From our perspective the pub conjured up images of life in the past in this once remote country village. Seeing horse riders arrive and corral their horses before going in for a lunch also added to the uniqueness of the setting. We arrived around 11:30am and settled into the garden for our lunch. It did not take long to realise that the expanse of tables and seating was for good reason. Not only did horse riders arrive but also a large group of cyclists and of course the car visitors.
Ordering our food we could see that the feature was “homemade” with lovely pork pies and quiches. The food was well presented and very enjoyable. To add to the meal I also selected ale from the barrel made with Elderflower.
Take time to visit Eyeworth pond, although there is little evidence of the gun factory it was once a large production unit supplying gunpowder around the world for small firearms.
This pub is well worth a visit when in the New forest.
There is some information on the factory on these websites
