“Great Sunday Roast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

Very friendly pub with good food which is served all day. We visited on Sunday 30th December and the 3 of us had roast beef with Yorkshire pudding at £8.25 each. My son didn't want any vegetables so they gave him stuffing and some extra roast potatoes. Portions were huge but they also offer a 'Small Appetite' portion for £5.95. Vegetables were cooked just how we liked them, they weren't hard or underdone and not overdone either. They also have an offer of Sunday roast to include a pudding for £11.25 (£8.95 for the 'SA' portion). Roast beef is on the Sunday menu every week but they also offer a alternative meat which alternates between lamb and pork. We were served very quickly and dinner arrived in no time. If you not wanting roast dinner then they also offer a full menu including steaks and salads as well as lighter lunches. We also joined their loyalty scheme which offers 10% discount on meals Monday to Friday and can also be used at any of their New Forest pubs; The Burley Inn, The Rising Sun, The Swan and The Stag Hotel.

“Get a new Sunday chef!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

Awful Sunday roast. This is the second bad visit after a gap of 4 years. Took family back because its a great location and was hoping that last time was just unfortunate luck. Roast beef dinner was fatty. Carrots hard, grindy and chewy. Potatoes were watery in the middle with a plasticy skin. Won't be hoing back.

“Delightful pub restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

I had been looking at the Tyrrell Stone in the New Forest and then felt like lunch. The Sir Walter Tyrrell pub was near-by, and I thought it was a real find. It was very pleasant, quiet, olde worlde in a nice way, and the food and service were very good. It made my day.

“Beautiful setting!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

We went for a Saturday lunch, 3 adults & 2 children. It was very busy but we had booked. Great food, lovely surroundings, good children's play area, dog friendly, great views. Will definitely return!

“A hidden treasure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

Situated in the middle of nowhere this new forest country pub is a great place to take the children, Excellent well kept children's play area with plenty to keep them occupied and loads of space to run themselves ragged, reasonably prices food and drink and a comfortable friendly atmosphere. a short walk to Rufus Stone so there's a bit of Old English History thrown in too!
