We stayed for a weekend at the Forest Lodge Hotel and enjoyed excellent food as well as good accommodation. There was a large wedding party staying the same two nights, and the hotel was fully booked but the staff coped very well in providing meals on time for both parties. We were asked to prebook our meal choices, which ensured that everyone was served promptly. Bar prices were high, so we retreated to the Waterloo Inn a few yards away for real ale at cheaper prices. Our room was large and the bed comfortable, so overall we were well looked after. The swimming pool was an added bonus and we enjoyed a leisurely swim after a walk round Lyndhurst.

I was one of a group of 28 on a three night stay at the hotel in september. i was in room 27 which was quite large eneough for me but for two persons might have been a little cramped, the bed was nice and comfortable and there was a plentifull supply of tea and coffee which was nice.
i found the room rather dark, not helped by the dark wood furnishings and deep colours on the upholstery and soft furnishings. The room was nice and quiet apart from the creaky floorboards!
Very good breakfasts with plenty of cereals etc to choose from and plenty of choice on the cooked options, the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was scrummy!
Evening meals were nicely presented but a little short on vegetables, on the first night there was just two baby carrots with the salmon fillet! It would have been nice to have had vegetables to help yourself to on the tables, but i can appreciate that this often leads to a lot of waste. Drinks were very expensive, the cheapest bottle of wine £19 and beers over £4 a pint!
The main selling point for the hotel for me was the good sized and nice temperature indoor pool and the sauna which i made use of each evening. it was a good way to relax after walking between eight and ten miles each day.
Overall a nice comfortable stay and a very short walk into town and a nice atmospheric pub just a few steps away

This hotel is lovely. We had a voucher for this hotel for a standard room, however after reading a review on here we decided to upgrade to get away from the noise, kitchen etc which was £40. We are so happy we did this as the room was lovely, quiet and cosy. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use the swimming pool but it looked very nice. The staff were polite and the hotel is only a short walk to the town of Lyndhurst. Our stay would have been 5/5 but if we were paying ourselves we don't think it would have been worth the £197 they normally charge for a four poster.

Room Tip: I think it was room 216. Up the stairs and back on yourself round the corner.

We stayed here for two nights with our dog on a Tesco Club Card deal.

The lady on reception was very helpful when we arrived and we checked in easily.

Our room was very small and dark but as we had stayed here before and we had our dog it was pretty much what we expected. The bedding was very nice but we had horrid foam pillows (not what I would expect from a hotel that charges upwards of £150 per night).

The bathroom was absolutely tiny and it was impossible to stand at the sink to do anything without the door being fully closed behind you. There was a shower over the bath which was surprisingly efficient and powerful.

This hotel seems to be a bit of a haven for families staying with small children who are visiting nearby Peppa Pig world. This in itself is not a problem but there was very little soundproofing in the rooms and we were woken both mornings by small children charging up and down the corridors (perhaps the fault of the parents and not the children)!

The bar area is fine but not very atmospheric and the drinks are very expensive.

Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. Three types of cereal and some dried up fruit and yoghurts. No pastries as they had on our last visit. The full English on the first morning consisted of 1 piece of bacon that was cooked so much it was impossible to chew and the other piece was hardly cooked at all, a tomato, a sausage and an egg. Mushrooms and anything other bits were all extra. It was fine really but again not what you might expect from a hotel that charges such high prices. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very sterile with very strange music being piped through. Bit of a surreal experience.

The location is excellent - three minutes walk to the centre of Lyndhurst and really close to lots of routes into the forest.

We would definitely return here because it's so easy and they accommodate our dog, but as I said in my heading I definitely would not pay full price for it.

Nothing special over priced.
Uncomfortable beds and pillows carpets marked. Good car park.
There is all so no foot path to the main road.

The main street in the village is like a mini motorway very dangerous for children and older people.
The pavements are very narrow and with the amount of traffic and lorries its quite intimidating.

I stay in a different hotel every week with work.

Stayed in better for a third of the price.

As we have often passed this hotel we decided to try Sunday lunch We wish we hadn't.
Although the Restaurant (The Glasshouse) was attractively furnished and the table settings looked good it failed on many counts.
First there was only us and one other table of guests in a large room meaning zero atmosphere.
The menu was very limited - 3 starters, 3 mains (only one meat choice) , 3 deserts. The main course came plated up rather than bringing vegetables and allowing choice.
Given the small number of guests the service was incredibly poor.
The wine was very expensive.
Given the limited choice the meal was vastly over priced, and disappointing quality in the starter and desert. The roast was just ok.

Thank you for your comments following your recent meal at the Glasshouse. I am sorry that you felt disappointed after your Sunday Lunch and I will ensure your feedback is forwarded to the general manager of the hotel as well as the head chef, as this is most definitely not our usual level of service. I do hope you will consider visiting one of our hotels in the forest for a Sunday lunch in the near future.

We were very impressed with the hotel on arrival as it was very clean and the family room was adequate for all 4 of us. It was also very well located in the centre of the New Forest enabling us to make various day trips from there as a base.
Unfortunately we had an accident whilst hiking and had to attend A&E during our stay. The receptionists, assistant manager and all the restaurant staff could not have been more accommodating and worked hard to help us during a difficult time.
The meal that we managed to have in the restaurant was so good that it was worth the stay on its own and the staff were very flexible as we needed to eat quite late after the hospital visit.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the corridor would be quieter as the corridors are quite creaky
