We spent 2 nights in room 7. Top of the building and a lovely room. Nice view, comfy bed. The staff were great. Breakfast was slightly below par but you have to remember it is not a 4 star hotel and it was adequate enough.
The only thing to bear in mind is that the car park is behind the hotel and not accessible from the High Street - and if you pull up out front you have to go all the way round the one way system to get to it which can take 15 mins at busy periods....
All in all a very nice stay.

The staff at the Stag are the friendliest I have come across in a hotel for a long time. They could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Just a one night stay but it was a lovely experience, great place to stay and I would not hesitate to return.

Hotel was very nice ... It was nice to see families using the hotel as well, the staff were very helpful to us and gave us as much help as we needed.. The food was very nice we had steak and that was cooked like we like.We are going to use this place again as we felt at home there.

Room Tip: In the summer time don't use room three as you would get a lot of noise from the pub next door b...

This hotel is right in the heart of Lyndhurst so great for local restaurants and pubs. We had a friendly and efficient welcome from the staff. The room was small but clean ,the bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water. The Bed was a little spongy and soft for us.
This is a typical pub hotel absolutely nothing wrong with it. The breakfast was very tasty as well. We did not eat evening meal as the menus looked a bit to pub grub for us and there are plenty of restaurants in Lyndhurst to try. Very nice pint of real ale served in a pub with a great atmosphere and very efficient staff.

Room Tip: We had room 3 which was small , best to ask the. Hotel in advance if you need a bit more room. Sayin...

Had lunch here today and food was very nice, arrived piping hot and well presented, although sauces were a bit heavy and salty for my taste but that is just a personal thing probably. Staff were very nice and friendly. Good atmosphere.

Stayed here for just one night. The Staff welcome was excellent. Our booked room (5) was not available because the night previous there was a lightning strike! Our allocated room (4) was O.K. A little small but lovely and clean. The bed comfy and the bathroom had everything for your needs.
Our thoughts on this Hotel:
Staff: Excellent and courteous.
Location: Lyndhurst Town is really lovely. Should promote itself more!!
Rooms: Not disabled friendly, because of the age of the Hotel. But, the Staff ARE very kind and helpful and do their utmost to assist.
Food: O.K. Didn't pay the earth but our wine (rose) was chilled and our glasses clean; at least no lipstick marks!!!
Return to the Stag: Yes; because the Town is super and it felt nice and safe.

Room Tip: Room 4: Thankfully, no lightning strike on our stay in this room!! The room is quite small and ove...

Stayed there at the end of Nov 12. We did have a lovely family room and the staff were very nice. The pub next door was pretty noisy, but we didn't really mind that as we were very relaxed in the nice room. Breakfast however was I have to say one of the worst I have ever eaten so I thought I needed to write a review. I cannot say a good thing about it and I even let my son leave his. The hotel is opposite a butchers so they could surely get some nice bacon and sausages. As the food was so bad the atmosphere in the dining room was miserable and not a happy place to be. I nearly complained when we checked out, however it was a young person manning reception and it wasn't his fault they use the poorest quality food to make the breakfasts. What a shame they really let themselves down with the food quality as it is very nicely presented and friendly hotel.
