“Consistently good”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

We've been enjoying meals at The Three Lions for 30 years or so - since well before Mike & Jayne Womersley arrived 15 years or so ago. Mike has a deft touch in the kitchen, and produces consistently good and appetising food from local ingredients, whilst front-of-house Jayne is always warm and welcoming.
Some contributors have commented that the food is overpriced, we would disagree and highlight the excellent value 3 course lunch (£23.50) with an excellent choice of starters, mains & desserts (can't recommend too highly the Hot Chocolate Pudding which is unfailingly soft and runny-centred!).
A great location on the edge of the New Forest completes the pleasure of another return visit.

“Always Superb”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

We have been coming here at irregular intervals, sometimes for lunch and sometimes for dinner and overnight for years, and it is always a delightful experience. A cosy, welcoming atmosphere, and food which is so classy, fresh and full of flavours, right down to the gorgeous bread. The best food in the New Forest.

“Worth a visit!!”
Reviewed December 14, 2013

Having just spent 2 nights at The Three Lions we can highly recommend it. The accommodation is clean and very adequate. The continental breakfast was lovely, orange juice, a choice of cereal, a platter of fresh fruit, croissants, pain de chocolat, toast and preserves with coffee or tea. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and the food was excellent. High quality produce cooked to perfection. Mike and Jayne were very friendly, as were their staff. Make sure you take a look around and see the wonderful sculptures.

“The grilled mango and liquorice ice-cream is amazing”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

I notice there are a couple of duff reviews on trip advisor about The Three Lions. Ignore them. The restaurant is slightly quirky in its décor but it is welcoming, comfortable and the food is excellent. In fact we liked the décor, which reminded us of an old style country inn. It took the pretension out of what is, at the end of the day, a high class restaurant. Service was just right. Not too intrusive but friendly and knowledgeable. The wine list comprehensive and not overpriced. The food was of a high quality, with plenty of choice, but partner did note that vegetarians could be better catered for in the main courses (she will eat fish at a push - of which there was a good choice). For dessert, make sure someone in your party orders the grilled mango and liquorice ice-cream. All in all a lovely evening.
