The hotel could do with updating. The food was good and service from the staff was good. The bedroom I had was on the front and would benefit from sound proofing. The hotel is in a good location. The hotel is also a dog friendly hotel.Good outside seating in the gardens at the rear of the hotel.

Enjoyed a three night stay with friends, staff were very helpful, the room was clean and tidy but a bit dated as was the bar. We ate in the restaurant on two evenings and the food and service were good. Nice location for visiting Winchester, Salisbury etc.

Went to a formal black tie dinner here and the food was a disaster. The starter was a pile of chopped salad leaves with a small mushroom in the middle, supposedly stuffed with cheese but that had obviously melted off. No bread or rolls offered with it.
The main course was 'pan fried duck" which was so tough nearly everyone on our table left it. It was accompanied by a warm , very sweet dark fruit sauce and grey cauliflower and overlooked broccoli .
The pudding described as Eaton mess ( I think they meant Eton after the school it originated from) was just cream with something red through it. I think the meringues had long melted into the cream. We had a very long wait for this. The table we were on only received our coffee as the speeches ended and it was time to go home.
We all said we were hungry and wanted to got get home to eat something.
Such ar shame as it is a lovely venue and very friendly staff serving. Something must have gone very wrong In the kitchen last night.

We stayed here on Saturday 21st June for a wedding.
Lovely venue and friendly staff. Food at the hotel was good pub food.
Only negative was that the room we stayed in especially the bathroom could use a lick of paint and updating.

Definitely not the best hotel to stay at, but not the worst.

Pros:
Pet friendly (although I came without pet)
There is a garden and it is quite good
Beds are comfortable
Relatively quiet place

Cons:
The furniture is quite old.
Food is of very poor quality (at least breakfast).
There's no shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom.
There was dust in the kettle.
Expensive for what it is...

Husband's Birthday beautiful location, we had drinks, food from main menu, and desserts. Husband had steak, and trimmings, I had a beautiful ploughman's, 2 guests had the steak and ale pie with trimmings. I asked our wonderful waitress whether the ploughman's would be served on a wooden board or a plate, she said wooden board. I asked her whether the ploughman's could be served on a plate, she very kindly said that would not be a problem. Although our waitress Rebecca was rushed of her feet you would not have known it she smiled, and was very obliging to our needs. Also had time to ask whether everything was ok with our meal, and was there anything else we needed. Excellent waitress service, and we really enjoyed the lovely sunshine coming through the windows. Definately will recommend this place to eat, as it was also good value for money.

Room Tip: Unable to review as not stayed in the rooms, only had meal in restaurant, as visiting for the day.

The hotel is well located in the centre of town with ample parking, a small cosy bar. I dined in the restaurant and found the food to be first rate.
The room was dated but comfortable and represented good value for money.
