My wife and I have had lunch here a few times both on a Sunday and during the week. The food served is quite delicious and is clearly freshly prepared as if home cooked. The roast potatoes are real roasties, no quick fried rubbish! It is truly a very friendly place, also welcoming dogs inside which is a real bonus as the place is just off the gorgeous Test Way walking and cycle route. Ideally located for a pleasant round of refreshment! It has been subject to a recent renovation and really looks lovely inside. A proper English pub that serves great home cooked food, well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Delighted to find this pub has reopened following a fire. I had heard it was back uyp and running so went there with a small walking group yesterday for lunch. Delighted to see Isobal and her husband back in control and producing the goods once more. There is a small menu but don't let that fool you as portion sizes are verging on the generous. This has always been Isobal's trademark and standard and it is so good to see proper pub food that hasn't been tarted to qualify as so called "gastro" food with the corresponding undeserved hike in prices.. Pleased to see that Palmer';s beer is still available. SWMBO asked for a meatless Caesar salad so was offered either Mozzarella or Feta to go with it instead of the chicken and bacon. Not a reaction you get from many eateries these days, If you are walking/driving,cycling or whatever in the area, do call in. You will not be disappojnted.

We live in King's Somborne and have walked past the pub several times during it refurbishment so thought we'd give it a try.

Came here for a meal on Friday evening with my wife and my dad. The pub is tiny but recently refurbished and is warm and inviting.

We received a friendly welcome and shown to our table. The menu is simple but has a good selection all at amazing value. The food was home cooked, generous, and tasty! The choice of ales was good too. All in a chilled out and unpretentious atmosphere.

We'll definitely be back and would highly recommend for a casual stop when walking or cycling the test way.

new landlord on the Bar and Wife cooking, together with new wallpaper etc, means the John of Gaunt is back in business. As it is on the Test Way it always was ideal as a stopover for walkers and cyclists. it is small = 24 covers inside and a few picnic tables outside. we went together last week for the first time since it closed in May 2015. menu is fairly basic but am sure will improve as the customer base increases back to how it used to be. My wife had a very good Caesar salad, and I had a lasagne. We both had empty plates at the end. so if in the area give it a go!
