“Leckford Hutt - Clos du Marquis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

It has been a few years since I had been to the Leckford Hutt - Clos du Marquis, but a cosy log fire, starched linen cloths and napkins, set the scene for a fabulous evening meal. There was a large party of us, and we all enjoyed the food immensely. I heard very positive comments from everyone; and those in the party who had not been before, were promising themselves another visit very soon.

“Still a pleasure!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013 via mobile

Four of us had lunch on Friday, the Restaurant, unusually not busy..
We had fish soup then venison casserole, with roast celeriac.
All most enjoyable, but service between courses, a wee bit slow....

“exceptional food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2013

Not quite quaint not quite quirky not quite sure, until the food starts to arrive.

I am not sure if i full on appreciate the intense gentleman who runs front of house or the flamboyant over Frenchification of the specials as he announces them but moving on from that the menu is lovely variety and interest through and through,

Two of us for lunch, slightly disappointed that the wine list had some old favourites but at crazy prices so had to settle for an inferior wine at an inflated price.

I had muscles followed by fillet d beouf rossini my friend had terrine of rabbit and roast pidgeon

both were faultless, presentation quantity and taste, simply exceptional.

after a very long wait ( because we were full ) creme caramel and a chocolate torte again very well presented and bursting with texture and flavour.

a go to place for food an omg how much on the wine front, the place was not bursting at the seams maybe filling out the wine list in the 30-50£ range with better specimens would help.

without doubt a place we will visit again soon.

“A gem of a restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

We booked for dinner on a Saturday evening at short notice. We could not get a table at the Norton Park Hotel.
Small intimate restaurant, warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere.
The owner and maitre di was excellent, the food was of exceptional quality and flavours.
My wife had the local lamb and she thought it was the best lamb she ever tasted.
I tasted one of our friends starters (a pate) and it was incredibly delicious. I had lamb kidneys with a devilled sauce - wonderful. A great cassoulet as a main.
The puddings were just as good.
Impressive value for money too.

“Interesting and affordable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

My wife and I visited this restaurant one lunchtime last week. We chose the fixed-price menu and made our choices while sitting in the small lounge area and having our aperitifs. A nice touch was a small complimentary plate of canapes brought with our drinks. All of the menu choices were very appealing but eventually we both chose the entrée du jour which was a pike paté accompanied by a small salad; it was the first time we had eaten pike and we both liked the distinctive taste. For our main courses, I chose a traditional Boeuf Bourginon, which was the plat de saison and seemed appropriate for the slightly chilly day, while my wife chose breast of chicken. However, because she has a fungi allergy, the chef made a special sauce instead of the advertised morel & sherry sauce. We chose to have different house wines by the glass and found them very acceptable. We both thought our food delicious. We do not have large appetites and so opted to finish our meal with just coffee. Highly recommended for interesting food at a reasonable price; we look forward to going again.
