What a lovely place. An old coaching inn - really well restored. keeping all the interesting hisorical aspects of the building (old tudor panelling) but comfortable well appointed bedrooms and an excellente dining room. Fantastic dinner - really imaginative menu. Slightly Manuelesque service but saved by general good will. Light breakfast food could be a little more exciting but would highly recommend the White Horse.

Dear Guest
Thank you for your review.
A great deal of time, thought and energy were spent in the restoration of the hotel working within the confines of a Grade 2 listed property. As you point out the menu is imaginative and executed with flair and professionalism from a young and enthusiastic team.
Your comments regarding breakfast have been observed and will be addressed.
Kind regards and best wishes.

On a rainy visit to Romsey last weekend we took refuge in The White Horse Hotel for afternoon tea. We had the basic scones and cream which were delicious. Plenty of jam and 2 scones. Lemon curd which was nice but didn't quite fit in. Service was excellent although we had to chase our tea 5 minutes after the food had arrived. A pot of hot water was brought when we asked. Very reasonably priced and comfortable chairs. After we had finished we did feel some slight pressure to move on quicker than we perhaps would have done as the room was filling up with other guests looking for seats.

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on TripAdvisor.
You were obviously not alone in taking refuge from the rain as we were extremely busy but that said I am pleased you were not left wanting and you enjoyed your cream tea.
Best wishes.

On seeing some afternoon tea's coming out the other day, I took my Gran (94 and still going strong!) and was really pleased with what we had. The sandwiches were tasty and the warm scones really delicious. Extra clotted cream was supplied when asked for and the staff checked whether everything was ok a number of times. The smaller pieces of cake weren't as ahigh a standard as the rest, but it was excellent value and a doggy bag was suppled!

Had a lunchtime buffet for 50+ guests in a room off the courtyard. Started off with drinks outside.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent. Everyone said what a great venue and praised the food. It is quite expensive but the food and service were brilliant.

We went for dinner at the White Horse. We ordered a bottle of wine and some water. The waiter forgot us and we noticed the table next to us who arrived after us got theirs straight away. The food was nicely presented and delicious. The surroundings are delightful and the ambiance good We were informed about the afternoon tea and picked up leaflets for the next two months menus

Dear Guest
Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor.
Apologies if you felt you were forgotten but I am sure this was not the case. Maybe the table next to you had ordered in the bar ahead of you and that is why it would appear they were served sooner than yourselves. Despite this I am delighted that you enjoyed your meal with us and hope you will make a return visit.
Best wishes

We stayed at this beautifully located, quaint hotel for the bank holiday weekend. on arrival we had a warm welcome from reception, who were very helpful with our enquiries. Our room was very nice, modern but with a country feel. We had lunch in the bar which was lovely but very expensive! 30pounds for 2 small sandwhiches, 1 beer and 1 cider. The guy behind the bar was very attentive and charasmatic. Romsey is such a nice village to get away from the hustle bustle, there are cute little shops and a really nice thai restaraunt where we had dinner. Breakfast was amazing, both continental and full english breakfast menus available all locally sourced food. thoroughly enjoyed. We had dinner in the restaraunt on Sunday evening which was very nice, great food! Slightly small choice to choose from but as we were on the sleepy sunday offer and the food was amazing it was great value for money. One small thing was that our room was very hot because of the towel rail that was on all the time, but we were provided with a fan so not too much of a problem. On the whole i would certainly recommend this hotel for a nice relaxing break i would love to return in the future!

I would recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone. Individualised rooms, fab food and warm accommodating staff. It's a winner!
We had a 2 night stay and enjoyed all the luxuries including the free cocktails (which led onto more!)
It's ideally placed to explore the area and being right in the centre of Romsey there is loads on the door step. Go go!
