Had a lunchtime buffet for 50+ guests in a room off the courtyard. Started off with drinks outside.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent. Everyone said what a great venue and praised the food. It is quite expensive but the food and service were brilliant.

We went for dinner at the White Horse. We ordered a bottle of wine and some water. The waiter forgot us and we noticed the table next to us who arrived after us got theirs straight away. The food was nicely presented and delicious. The surroundings are delightful and the ambiance good We were informed about the afternoon tea and picked up leaflets for the next two months menus

Dear Guest
Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor.
Apologies if you felt you were forgotten but I am sure this was not the case. Maybe the table next to you had ordered in the bar ahead of you and that is why it would appear they were served sooner than yourselves. Despite this I am delighted that you enjoyed your meal with us and hope you will make a return visit.
Best wishes

We stayed at this beautifully located, quaint hotel for the bank holiday weekend. on arrival we had a warm welcome from reception, who were very helpful with our enquiries. Our room was very nice, modern but with a country feel. We had lunch in the bar which was lovely but very expensive! 30pounds for 2 small sandwhiches, 1 beer and 1 cider. The guy behind the bar was very attentive and charasmatic. Romsey is such a nice village to get away from the hustle bustle, there are cute little shops and a really nice thai restaraunt where we had dinner. Breakfast was amazing, both continental and full english breakfast menus available all locally sourced food. thoroughly enjoyed. We had dinner in the restaraunt on Sunday evening which was very nice, great food! Slightly small choice to choose from but as we were on the sleepy sunday offer and the food was amazing it was great value for money. One small thing was that our room was very hot because of the towel rail that was on all the time, but we were provided with a fan so not too much of a problem. On the whole i would certainly recommend this hotel for a nice relaxing break i would love to return in the future!

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor.
I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us but like you I am concerned by the amount of your sandwiches and drinks and agree that is very expensive. Please can I ask you to contact me at the hotel.

I would recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone. Individualised rooms, fab food and warm accommodating staff. It's a winner!
We had a 2 night stay and enjoyed all the luxuries including the free cocktails (which led onto more!)
It's ideally placed to explore the area and being right in the centre of Romsey there is loads on the door step. Go go!

Stayed in this hotel 3 times this year for a minimum of 2-3 nights whilst visiting family. This is the best place to stay in this area - the food was excellent, staff were extremely good and the rooms of a high standard - well recommended - you will not be disappointed. Surrounding countryside which includes the New Forest, is fantastic. Romsey is a small town and very welcoming.

We booked an afternoon tea for a friends birthday. It was so easy to book and Claire who booked it all was efficient and extremely helpful.

The afternoon tea was one of the best I have ever had and I've been to the Chewton glen and the Four Seasons. The choice of cake was excellent and they tasted amazing too. There was a wide range of tea and coffee and refills were not an issue. We couldn't finish it all but the staff happily packed us some doggy bags. For £25 for two the value is brilliant.

All in all I cannot wait to go back again.

Thank you for your complimentary comments of your afternoon tea with us.
Sandwiches, scones and cakes are plentiful but as you discovered don't ever be shy of asking for a doggy bag - we are happy to oblige!

We first stayed here when we had to pick a family member up from an early morning cruise drop off in Southampton. Perfect for this purpose as only15 minutes by car away from docks but on the edge of the New Forest and both the scenery and town are spectacular. Perfect for long walks along the River Test. Anyway we enjoyed it so much that we returned this time with three teenage boys and two dogs. Boys stayed in a standard room, which we had last time and was very passable and we upgraded to the penthouse.
Penthouse was fantastic for the money. In the eaves of the original building it had plenty of space with a sizable bed, chaisse longe and three comfortable leather armchairs looking ata large flat screen TV. There was also a very clean and well appointed sizable bathroom with a roll top bath. The room overlooked the market square and the only issue we had was the early morning noise when we slept for the first night with the windows open as stall holders set up. However, this was easily solved on subsequent nights by closing the windows and using the effective aircon to deal with the heat.
On the first evening we ate in the recently refurbised restaurant which we have frequented before and I believe has to be one of the best in the area. The ambience is excellent, the menu selection about as good as you will get anywhere, the wine reasonably priced for the quality it represents, the food excellent and even a little eclectic and the service (as throughout the hotel as well) very professional if a little impersonal. The Head Waiter/Barman is especially personable and well informed. On warm days you have the option of dinning for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the beautifully presented courtyard which is also something of a sun trap.
Breakfast on both days was excellent and wide ranging. It included a well stocked buffet with quality pastries and very nice local yogurts and the hot a la carte menu covered all the usual options.
On the second day we decided to forgoe dinner and instead have a cream tea. Ohh my god - the most amazing cream tea I have ever had and an absoute must if you are the least bit interested in such creations. The qantity and quality are off the scale and the way the tea is surved is kind of special. A word of warning though - avoid breakfast in preperation for this gargantuan extravaganza.
