5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

The father's day menu' was attractive and well priced with a good selection of starters main courses and sweets to chose from. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We'll definitely eat there again.

Following our Easter Saturday wedding at Romsey Abbey, we held our reception in the Brasserie of the White Horse. We choose the hotel for the convenience to the Abbey, which allowed us and our 80 guests to walk from ceremony to reception, and for the style and intimacy of the Brasserie which meant that this was not your typical wedding reception function room. It was, without a doubt, the right decision.

From our first contact with the events co-ordinator, Sarah Bingham, our experience of planning the event was stress free and enjoyable. The day itself was perfect, we could not have asked for more from Sarah and her team, who managed the day faultlessly. We have since had many complements concerning the professional, yet friendly, staff and the quality of the venue and the food. All were exceptional. The icing on the cake was our complementary stay in the penthouse suite that night, with a delicious breakfast the next morning in a private room with our family and friends who had also stayed at the hotel.

We cannot thank Sarah and her team enough for all the effort and care that went into making our day so special and would not hestitate to recommend this as a perfect venue for any occasion and as being excellent value for money. We look forward to returning to the Hotel and Brasserie on many occasions to come and certainly to celebrate our first wedding anniversary next year.

Met with friends for lunch and we were all very happy with the food, atmosphere and staff. There is a reasonably comprehensive and fairly priced wine list.

We were fortunate with the weather so ate in the peaceful courtyard with comfortable outdoor furniture and large parasols. Difficult to imagine that a few yards away was the busy market town.

A quick inspection of the restaurant and lounges showed an elegance and grace that this old coaching inn deserves.

A good experience.

Room Tip: 2 or 3 course lunch menu is good value with crisp modern flavours and presentation.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to to write such a complimentary review on TripAdvisor.
The courtyard is such a lovely sunny spot and I agree difficult to imagine that bustling Romsey is a few steps away. You were lucky with the weather and one of the first this year to make use of the gorgeous new furniture and parasols. The brasserie is a perfect venue for light lunches and dinner when the weather isn't so special and afternoon tea in the Tudor Lounge is a treat!
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Best wishes

My husband and I stayed here recently and had a wonderful stay. The staff are abolutely charming and the hotel has been done up beautifully. We treated ourselves to one of the suits and it was fabulous - hugely spacious with a very comfortable bed and an enormous modern bathroom complete with freestanding bath. Breakfast was delicious; the pancakes were a particular highlight! The hotel is very well located in the centre of Romsey to visit the Abbey and also has a lovely restaurant for lunch.

We had a wonderful stay and will be returning. The food was excellent, imaginative menus and the presentation was superb. Our room was very comfortable. Being an old coaching inn the building has genuine character and any one interested in history will love it. The Tudor Room with its original wall paintings is very atmospheric. Great location for exploring Romsey and the Test Valley. We visited the hotel about ten years ago and it was very neglected and down at heel then so it was a treat to find that Silks Hotels had restored the building to its former glory and turned it in to the best hotel in town.

Dear Guest
Thank you for your complimentary review on TripAdvisor.
The renovation of the hotel was made over a four year period taking great pains to retain the original character and artwork of the old coaching inn. We are very proud of the finished result, although extra detail and constant maintenance keep the hotel looking fresh. We haven't tried one of King John's teas but maybe on your return visit you could try one of ours.... they are amazing so we are told!
Best wishes

The staff was very welcoming. The hotel is a wonderful place to stay. I would go back for holiday anytime in the area. Very nice place and a lovely town to walk around and enjoy the sites. My room was on the backside of the hotel which looked over the courtyard. The courtyard is a nice place to sit and enjoy a nice glass of wine. The restaurant provides good food with excellent service.
