“More could be made of the history of the Abbey”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

Disappointing to visit as the Abbey is packed with history but despite the best efforts of the volunteers the key aspects are not brought out. perhaps this is because it is a church for the locals rather than a tourist attraction.

A large Abbey with the tomb of Viscount Lord Mountbatten. Well worth a visit if you are interested in church buildings.

“Ancient History in this Abbey”
Reviewed March 23, 2014 via mobile

For a small town the Abbey is larger than life, really old relics, carvings, wonderful decoration to gaze at in awe. I saw a stone to Lord Mountbatten, but didnt realise he is actually buried under it! His home was in Romsey so it makes sense. Well worth a visit.

“Peace, perfect peace”
Reviewed February 8, 2014

You should never visit Romsey and not go to the Abbey. It is such an antidote to modern life - peaceful and so, so interesting. There is no fee to pay to visit but donations are always welcomed and are necessary to keep such a lovely place in good condition. So wonderful to take a deep breath and relax.
