Not cheap to get in and sadly never a discount voucher to be had anywhere so a day at Paultons for us is a once a treat with several young children.

But finances aside, the park is a fantastic day out. Rides suitable for little ones and now several for young teens, it is less manic than the big theme parks with shorter queuing times and always brilliantly maintained and spotless. The gardens are beautiful and the rides never look shabby......you certainly get what you pay for.

Prices for food and drink are much as you would expect, a little over normal, but not excessively so. Not much else to pay extra for apart from the ride photos, the odd 50p operated machines and the go-karts. The sit and ride-on machines for little ones are usually set to go for free, ideal when you're waiting for older children on the rides.

Lovely picnic areas, huge playgrounds, nice cafes.

Expensive but fun-packed day and all in immaculate surroundings.

Just returned from a trip to Paultons Park which for our family (mum, dad and girls aged 3 and 5) was a great success. As we live a fair distance from the park we decided to go for the "two days for the price of one" offer which cost us £168. This included 2 day entry to the park for the four of us (both girls over 1m) and a night in a local hotel plus a decent breakfast. We chose a Friday and Saturday (the Friday being an INSET for us but not the local schools) and this plus the grey, freezing cold weather kept the crowds away. Peppa Pig World is just lovely and we queued for a maximum of 10 minutes (for Miss Rabbits helicopter ride). Most queues were much shorter than this especially towards the end of the day. Once we ventured out into the rest of the park, the queues were non-existent. We got on everything immediately and often stayed on for another go (not to be recommended for the dragon ride!) We were there from opening time to closing time both days and did not stop. The Aquaslide and new 4D cinema are particularly good. With regard to other reviews, whilst I appreciate that the entry fee may seem exorbitant to those who spent all day queuing in PP land, we found our trip great value for money. Complaining about paying for children just on a metre also seems unfair as the whole place is geared up for young children and once they are over 900 mm they can go on just about everything. We also found the staff really nice and very helpful - perhaps we got lucky. As for food we were glad to have taken a picnic both days but would recommended the Prezzo pizza restaurant in nearby Romsey. We had a lovely evening meal there and you can get Prezzo vouchers via the Tesco clubcard scheme.

Paulton's, aka Chessington Junior, is great and Peppa Pig World is perfect for children of a certain age. I would recommend getting there for gates open and then making a dash for Peppa World to allow at least two turns on the rides before it gets busy. Or visit on a wet or cold day and the attrition rate kicks in around lunchtime, by 2pm we had the place to ourselves, despite the 2C temperatures.
The disappointment really lies with the newly heralded 4D cinema experience - in a nutshell the Curse of the Black Pearl is poor and could have been created by a 2nd year graphics student. The entrance is pitifully understated and the staff lacked enthusiasm. Having waited a few minutes a graphical usher appears and bores you into submission, rattling on for far too long without being informative or entertaining. And then the cinema experience. Yes, you get a bit of spray, a blast or two of air in your face and the seat tips back once or twice but it was all terribly uncoordinated, like the visuals and effects were out of sync. That's too easy an excuse though because quite frankly it was rubbish, and not even the kids were that amazed. The 3D is nothing inventive and the 4D needs serious work to be anything special. Maybe a different film will yield more satisfactory results but the current pirate film is poor.

Don't stay indoors though, get out and explore the park, there's plenty to do, but take a picnic!

Expensive but I think worth it. Our little girl loved it, we spent ages there as there's lots for kids to do. If it had been busier it might have not been so enjoyable.

Kids had great fun on all the rides , and could stay on rides as there were no queues . Only downside was the staff looked and acted so miserable and some that I met were rude . At one point i was about to go on the log water ride and as I moved up to let the long miserable man let me on , he swung his arm round at me and shouted at me to wait even though I was only moving up so he could move my two kids up . Training needs to be in place for good customer service skills or get new staff . If staff had not ruined the time I would of gave this 5 stars as attractions were great , we loved the new 4d cinema .

Dear 19kim81, thank you for your feedback and taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the rides and attractions however disappointed that you feel the staff did not meet your expectations on this occasion.

All staff receive full training and inductions upon recruitment and work hard throughout the season to ensure guests have a safe and enjoyable experience when visiting. The staff operating the River Ride are required to keep visitors safe and away from the moving boats until it is time to climb aboard.

We do hope to welcome you and your family back again soon,

Kind regards,

Paultons Park | Home of Peppa Pig World
