“Interesting old house in quiet surroundings”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We stayed at Langrish House one night on 18th September 2012. We found the house and its grounds delightful and well-kept. The bedroom was charming and quaint but a little cramped. Removing one or two chairs might be a good idea. Nice modern bathroom.

Good evening meal - excellent soup and ice-cream. The small dining-room - only 5 tables -was restful; especially after an exhausting day on the road. The owner of the house took time to have a brief conversation with each one of his guests.

The house is quiet and we slept well. Everyone on the staff was helpful and attentive.

Stayed at Langrish house for a wedding.
The house is in a lovely setting and the grounds are very well maintained.
The food was fantastic both for the wedding and also breakfast the next day (I always know a good hotel when they offer good quality sausages for breakfast!)
The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly
The room we had, was spacious and maintained to a high standard and the bathroom was of very good quality
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay

As a regular guest at Langrish House, I cannot speak highly enough about any aspect of this hotel - the staff, the rooms, the location and the food are all superb.
I first visited Langrish House when I attended a business networking event 3 years ago, and have been lucky enough to enjoy their hospitality on numerous occasions since then. You will not find more delicious food within 100 miles, and you possibly won't receive a better welcome anywhere in the world!
We recently held my mother's 80th birthday party at Langrish House - it was an event we will all cherish forever. Thank you Robina and all the staff for making the occasion Perfect - in every way.

I needed a place to stay in this area for one night and obtained a reasonable rate, I would have paid more in a B&B so was more than happy with my stay. It was pleasant and the grounds are lovely. I sat in the sun and ordered a delicious lunch after a stroll in the garden where I met the owner, a polite and kind gentleman who offered me a glass of champagne and apologised for a couple of minor maintenance issues in my room.
I would be more than happy to stay again and am pleased to stay I will be a frequent visitor to the area so please get used to me being around!

We got married here in June 2011. We had stayed here many times before without dissapontment in terms of accommodation or food. In fact that's a gross understantement. It's always been outstanding and the food is "to die for". Our wedding was the most beautifully romantic day ever. Idiliic and perfect. Thank you Nigel and Robina. I love your "shabby" furniture. Xx

We spent four nights here and had a meal in the restaurant each evening. The standard of food was excellent – an “amuse bouche”, starter, sorbet, main course and desert. The menu did not change but featured four or five dishes for each course. The food was some of the best we have had during a hotel stay.

Unfortunately, we could not say the same about the accommodation. We were given an executive room which was reached either by walking downstairs through the “dungeons” and up again, or via the back of the hotel where the bins were. As it was a dormer room and the roof lights were dirty, we had no view, which was very disappointing as the hotel is set in beautiful countryside. The bathroom was very small and there was no horizontal surface on which to place toiletries. The shelf above the basin was coming off the wall so could not be used safely. There was no room to hang towels. They had to be placed on a stand in the main room. We did not see any other rooms and they may have been better.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the South Downs Way – which is a longish walk or a short bus ride or car journey away. There is a 2 hourly bus service (Mon to Sat) which stops at the hotel gates en route between Petersfield and Winchester – useful for visiting Winchester if you do not want to take the car. Check times before travelling – hotel has a timetable.

Room Tip: Executive "Hideaway" is not as good as the name implies

Very disappointing stay at the Langrish in May 2012. If you like old worn furniture, some of it from the eighties, loose covers on old worn out sofas, carpets that have seen better days, a musty smell everywhere (we had to hold our noses in the area outside our bedroom door), then you might like this place. This place gives hotel keeping in the UK a bad name and the owners must be out of touch. The discounted rate turned out not to be a bargain. I wouldn't stay in this place again if they paid me rather than me paying them. There are many, many better hotels than this.

Thank you for your review. It is most concerning if any guest does NOT enjoy their stay. We are so sorry.

Thank goodness 99% of guests have a lovely visit to this small historic house (To be frank, this is not a ‘plastic chain’ hotel but a private family home too).

Just awarded ‘Best Food in the Locality’.
