“Petersfield's Premier Indian restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2014

Is this Petersfield's premier indian restaurant? The food is good and served quickly by friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble and you always feel that you have been well looked after. There is always a good atmosphere in the restaurant, and we always see "regulars" coming back time after time.

“Nice food, but staff could listen more and shout less”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2014

This was my second visit to Spice Lounge. There's a good vegetarian selection and food is generally fairly good quality and fresh. If you visit on Wednesdays, there's the banquet which is very good value - large portions at a reasonable price.

However, even though some of the staff are quite polite, there are one or two who don't listen properly when the order is given (thereby bringing the wrong food or drinks), and who are inclined to shout when asking diners what they want.

Overall the food is rather oily, with a lot of fried dishes on the menu, and even the apparently non-fried food (such as shashlik) somewhat swimming in oil, but there is a healthy section of the menu (which I didn't try but will do next time).

It was quite a nice place to visit in the recent UK heatwave as the upstairs part of the restaurant is air conditioned.

Tues night 6.30 quiet, food took ages and wasn't quite as expected should have had something we could have compared with not the specials, wrong wine, wrong size glasses. Communication poor. Although they did give us a complimentary drink on departure

“Very tasty food and generous portions”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

We decided to try a take-away from here after a busy day of activity and too tired to cook! All of us had huge appetites but the amounts served up defeated us, so with some pleasure we had curry the next day too!
Menu has some dishes on it that are not common in the other Indians around here, and the ones we tried were really good - as were the more traditional Jhall Freize and Tikka Marsala.
The restaurant itself is upstairs in an old building with wooden beams etc- not usual décor! It looked very good and we may well eat there next time rather than take-away. Air conditioning in summer too.
