Visited the spa on 12th Feb with my husband for a Lazy Sunday Spa Day. Had a very warm welcome, all staff helpful and knowledgeable. Food and drinks of high standard. All areas of the spa, hotel and groupds are spotless. HIghly recommended and hope to go back again some day.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. The staff are fantastic, and the service certainly exceeds expectations.

The price reflects this, however I would not hesitate in returning. I have never had such an enjoyable stay at a hotel before. My wife and I have stayed at a number of 5 star hotels around the world and we have never experienced such a personal service.

The facilities are wonder and the food incredible, the tasting menu is a must!

However the reason we enjoyed our stay so much was completely down to the staff, who think of every little detail to make your stay even more enjoyable than you could imagine.

Chewton Glen has always been the gold standard when it came to country house hotels and when I heard of the changes in the brestarnat and all the new developments outside in the grounds I was cautious that evolution had changesd to revolution. However I need not have worried, the work outside on the new tree houses is well away form teh buidkling andnis in fact ion an area i was not aware that they owned. I did however sneak a view frm across the valley and it looks more like a new village than a few treehouses and I for one will certainly be back to check out the finished results.
The rooms and housekeeping standrads along with the service and hospitality however form the backbone of the hotel, no request is too much and every little factor is considered. The house has clearly undergone many chnages and is a bit of a rbaitt waren but once you find your room it then is very private and personal - our room had its own front door and private garden which could have been a world away form teh rest of the guests and certainly encouraged relaxation and recuperation which a trip to the spa only endorsed.
The highlight however for us was teh food, i had heard many stories of the changes to casual brasserie style but the food quality and standrd of teh dishes is far from this. It is a brasserie style of menu but conjured and created in a modern vision and cooked to perfection. often when faced with an alacarte menu there are a few items i would like and many i would not wish but the menu I was presented with could not have been more diffuicult to choose from as there were no items I diod not wish and a two night stay was not long enough to try the dishes I wanted even including pinching off the other plates around the table. The Bream was excellent and the Lamb Tagine is worth the effort.
Now back home saving up for my next foray!

My partner and I stayed one night at this Hotel last week on February 2nd to celebrate our first anniversary together.
From the time we arrived to the time we left it was a wonderful experience.
The staff were courteous and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent with the recommended bumble bee dessert living up to all expectations.
We were even presented with a little anniversary cake at dinner, a complete surprise.
Will we go agin? You bet.

Room Tip: We had a beautiful suite. This was a quiet time to visit anyway so nothing really to add. The bathr...

We booked a last minute couple of nights here despite being told the last remaining room (bronze) was over a hundred pound a night more than advertised on their web site and without the free taster meal and spa treatment that is promoted for jan to march.
The room turned out to be small but elegant and with a wonderful large bathroom that exceeded expectations.
Our only moan on an otherwise wonderful stay was with the large group of guests who took over the hotel on the friday night. We were driven from the bar area with their noise and constant opening of the external door to have a cigarette on a night when it dropped to -5 degrees. We then discovered that our room was directly above this area and they continued through till well after 3.30 in the morning and then they retired to their rooms ( surrounding ours) and continued to make a din. In the morning the receptionist was very sorry and tried to move us to another room but without success. Instead they took money off our bill and gave us a voucher towards a meal in the restaurant for another time.
Luckily the next night was silent and we slept well!
The restaurant was a little dissapointing and very expensive with little atmosphere but despite this we will probably try and return to use the voucher.
One last point...... Please fix all the very squeaky floorboards in the rooms and especially the coridoors. As an old building you cannot expect fantastic soundproofing but squeaking floors all night long are easily fixed and will make a huge difference in the area we were in.

ChewtonGlenNewForest, Managing Director at Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa, responded to this review, March 15, 2012
First and foremost I would like to sincerely apologise to this guest for the discrepancies on our website which were found whilst booking a room with us. It is most unusual for such instances to occur, however, it is nonetheless unacceptable within an establishment such as Chewton Glen. Emma Underhill, our Reservations Manager, has asked me to express how sorry she is for this oversight, which has since been resolved.

More positively I am happy that you had an otherwise wonderful stay with us and I would like to thank you for your honest and complimentary feedback, notably about our guest bathrooms, which I am delighted to see exceeded your expectations. As you would expect from a country house, it is the charm and history of the building which makes it unique and therefore the odd squeaky floorboard can give it that extra bit of character. However, this should at no point be to the detriment of a guest’s experience and so I have since raised these concerns with Paul Jarvis, our Maintenance Manager, who is addressing the issues you described about the floorboards.

My colleagues and I all very much hope that these guests return to us again, so that we can demonstrate a true reflection of the service execution we offer at Chewton Glen.

What a wonderful place to spend a freezing weekend in January. We simply loved our beautiful room, the food was amazing and we made full use of the lovely grounds. The staff at Chewton Glen really are exceptional - always polite and can't do enough for you. We can't wait to return.
