Forest Mere is an ideal spa. It has a beautiful setting, it's not too big, the staff are attentive, helpful and lovely.
The rooms are adequate - I was in a standard room, there are better, but it was absolutely fine. the food is really good - informative about which is better for you, without forcing the point. There is a reasonable wine list, so you don't need to abstain.
There is a wide range of treatments and the staff are really professional and friendly. There are lots of classes and a pool that is good for swimming.
I spent two nights and came away feeling as if I'd had a weeks holiday.
Comfortable bed, and I slept like a log - very unusual for me

To be honest, we didn't participate in any activities other than an aqua mitt class. However the activities on offer were many and varied.
The hotel itself was clean and well presented, the reception staff very attentive and helpful. Beautifully located in the Hampshire countryside overlooking a lake. Our room was lovely, quite a large twin room overlooking the lake, a beautiful view. Nice power shower in the clean bathroom with plenty of toiletries available. Unlike many hotels I have stayed in there was plenty of tea, coffee and milk provided.
Food: excellent choice of healthy food, plenty of fresh fruit and good choices. restaurant staff were very attentive.
Pool, very nice but the water was fairly cold and the surroundings even colder so it did lessen the relaxation a little. The whirlpool is just that, not a jacuzzi so again quite cold.
The thalassotherapy pool was amazing, lots of power jets. It incurred an extra charge but well worth it.

Spa facilities- between the 4 of us we had a selection of facials and massages, all well appreciated, the massage tables were really warm so our relaxation was complete.
All in all a great experience I would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lake had a beautiful view.

4+ days at Forest Mere is that special treat which changes you from a stressed wreck to a perfectly functioning human being! The food, the classes, the treatments but most of all the smiling friendly staff do all they can to make you stay special.

Room Tip: Ground floor, lake view

I have stayed at Forest Mere twice a year for the last 7 years. It never disappoints. As soon as you walk through the doors, there is a feeling of calm. I always take a superior room overlooking the lake, although some standard rooms also overlook the lake. Forest Mere has the feel of a 5* hotel, without the ceremony that sometimes brings. You can just 'relax', and walk around in your robe all day (provided). The staff are friendly and very helpful, the treatments make you feel special, the classes are abundant (take gym gear), the indoor pool and spa glorious, the cuisine excellent, the grounds tranquil (surrounded by countryside for plenty of walks), and the rooms and beds very comfortable. The walls of the rooms do transmit a little noise from the adjoining rooms, but no more so than anywhere else I have stayed. This is a health resort, so there are many early risers, however the DO NOT DISTURB sign works perfectly for those who are not morning people! Breakfast is until 10.00, so as long as you get there by 09.45, everything is still available. Lunch goes from 12.00-13.30, in half hour sessions, so plenty of scope for working around classes or treatments. Dinner from 18.30-20.30. Guests must book in a time for lunch and dinner. Forest Mere was beginning to look a little tired, but a series of refurbishments have been implemented, which has brought it back to its former glory. The outdoor pool was being worked on while I was there. The workmen worked as quietly and unobtrusively as possible. I will be returning again soon - it calms the spirit.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the lake are a bonus. A top floor room would avoid noise from a room above you. Al...

My wife and I stayed at Champneys for a one night break arriving early Friday afternoon. The staff were friendly, the place had a very peaceful Roman Bath feel to it. We enjoyed excellent massages, the gym and a healthy evening meal. However, we discovered that the walls separating are extremely thin and transmitted every noise from the rooms next door. It was like Butlin's in this sense. We could hear every word of conversations that guests were having in the rooms next door on both sides. They weren't speaking loudly either. We went to bed quite early (10.15) and were woken up by the guests in the room next door talking an hour later. In the end, I had to get up to go and knock on the door and ask them to speak more quietly. They did but we could still here them. We had a terrible nights sleep. Then they got up early (7am) and woke us up. So the next day we felt completely exhausted not at all refreshed or rejuvenated.

Room Tip: Just ask for the quietest rooms
