“Excellent menu, great service”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

Spent a really pleasant evening enjoying a couple of really different salads - which made a very pleasant change from the usual boring green stuff. Excellent food, very good service from a pleasant waitress, and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely go again.

“Great lunch spot”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

You're in Fleet's main street and you would like a bowl of hearty soup. where to go? We tried the Oatsheaf and were in no way disappointed. They have a comprehensive menu so you can get a full meal if you want. The service was good, the staff were welcoming. The pub has a good balance between food and drink.

“Gastropub that is well above average”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Yes, this is a Gastropub from a chain, and yes, it is decorated in a similar way to lots of other modern Gastropubs. However, that doesn't make it bad, it is actually rather nice. It's a huge place, has a buzzing atmosphere, and nicely decorated and furnished.

The food is very good value, well presented, and tasty. The staff were good, friendly and attentive, but we didn't go on a busy night. Don't expect this to be gourmet, but they don't try to be, just good food and a reasonable price.

The only "fly in the ointment" was a shard of plastic in my son's ice cream (he is 9). It was obviously the opening "lug" from a tub of ice cream, and the waitress was horrified we had found it. She immediately took it to the kitchen, and as a gesture of good will they offered to pay for all our deserts (there were 8 of us), and apologised profusely, so I was more than satisfied.

I would recommend this place for a good family or group night out!

“Fantastic Dining Experience”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

I am very impressed with The Oatsheaf, I actually had a business lunch then took my wife there to dinner on the same day. I had the Steak Sandwich for lunch. It is on a Ciabatta which was fresh and the steak inside it was great. Was worth the money. For Dinner I had a Lamb Rump Special with Dauphinoise Potato and my Wife had the Tiger Prawn Linguini. The Lamb Rump was perfectly cooked and i need their recipe for the dauphinoise potato! The Linguini was fresh with big plump prawns, lovely chorizo and a little kick of chilli, Pasta perfectly cooked. The service you get there is amazing and they really know what they are doing and do it well! Great place to go for a drink, very busy at weekends so you need a bit of patience but would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

“A good option”
Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

I've eaten here 3 or 4 times in 2012 and always had a good meal and the service has been fine.
It can get very busy.
At the weekend it's lively with a good atmosphere and a siverlised, more mature, clientele.
